johnMemberIs there anyway to get Aaron to release the studio version of “So Much For Rock and Roll”?
I heard it was a B side off ‘Why do they Rock So Hard” In my opinion, it should have been an A side.
WDTRSH was recorded well, and I would do almost anything to hear the studio version of this song. I know it was with JIVE, but Aaron owns these songs now, he CAN re-record them.
Dear Aaron, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE re-record “So Much For Rock and Roll” like you re-recorded all those other sweet songs for the Best of us for the rest of us Album.
PLEASE!
We will buy in mass!

johnMemberThey posted the ENTIRE song back on their Myspace page in 2004-2006-ish. It was awesome. Their was TWO separate versus to go along with the Chorus, which changed at the end of the song just a bit…an awesome bit. The song was 2:45 minutes long, no longer than three minutes.
This exists; I don’t know why it can’t be found (maybe Rice Krispies won’t let the song out, much like “You Got Me” by The Hippos…another sweet ska/rock song that took me YEARS to finally find, but I found it six years back by talking to their lead singer on myspace)
I ask Reel Big Fish, or anyone to please post this whole song.
It exists. The whole song was written. And performed by the best RBF.
I yearn to hear it again. There is one clip on youtube that has a few of the extra lyrics, basically proving their is more to this song than a 30 second clip…because the 30 second clip we have today on youtube does NOT have these lyrics in it…

johnMemberBack me up here Dan.
The ending was different than that in most of the commercials on youtube. There is ONE commercial on youtube, lower quality that has the ending of the song played in the background.
Its mostly a song about snap, crackle, and pop. Aaron wrote the entire song for a commercial. He sold out, and wrote a song for those guys. Thing is, the song is catchy as hell and sounds like a b-side from “Cheer Up” with the auto tuned greatness of Scott and Aarons voices. No ska, just catchy as hell punk…or pop punk.
The band, RBF, release the entire song in either 2004 or 2006 on myspace. I downloaded it back then but have since gone through multiple PC’s and lost the file. I am DYING to hear again.
I have “You Got Me” , the entire 2:42 second song by “The Hippos”. It was the last ska song the hippos wrote. It sounds like a ska b side from “Heads are Gonna Roll” CD. The only version of that song available is the opening from the old Eddy Mcdowld Show trailer on youtube. Some show about a mean kid turned into a dog , and now has to do right to get turned back into a human. Its a sweet song, and I ended up getting to talk a member of “The Hippos” to get it!

Oh yeah, they did a full song. Been six or seven years since I heard it though. I’m dying to play it on my sound system.

johnMemberSo turns out there are about 4, maybe up to 6 songs that got cut. Shame. Would have paid good money to have them. Just read an interview at thepier.org , and Dan explained it. They go back to their songs a bunch, so that never sound like they did when they started to write them.
Would love to hear rough cuts, early cuts of songs, b-sides, and the 4-6 cut and FINISHED songs for CCF.
REEL BIG FISH please here my plea!!!

johnMemberThe covers rock, but I like the original material far better. The Promise is fuckin awesome your right, I’d like to see the Fish do an entire album of reggae songs. Original reggae songs :)….maybe a cover or two.

johnMemberI happened to love every, single, re-recording the Fish made. Especially Down In Flames and the ska version of Good Thing. Between you and me, I would have given the Fish a hundred bucks just for those two songs. Good thing they only charged 99cents. Good thing, hah.
Now if they would only re-record (or studio record) SO MUCH FOR ROCKN ROLL , I’d be in RBF heaven.

johnMember*EDIT- Alex, are you talking about the Charlotte show or the FL show? The set lists are identical, I was at the Charlotte show, so thought you were talking about that.
If you were at the FL show, you don’t know what the “Braveheart Charge” is…as Goldfingers last show was in Charlotte.

johnMemberAlex, I was there….and sang every single word of “Punisher”, loved it!!! I stoked a spot at the front when SL started around 6, and held my position at front stage right the whole night throughout the show. It was indeed a life changing experience, my first show. SO awesome.
I got Rylands drum stick as he threw it out at the end of the show! And Johnny Christmas’s autograph on my new RBF shit, and talked with him for a while; he said the reason he kept looking at my cousin the whole show was because she was “the spitting image of my (his) niece” as he said. Really a good guy, showed alot of love to the fans after the show.
Alex, where were you for the “Braveheart Charge” during the Goldfinger set, that was fucking wild!
