The recent influx of request songs, and the fact that the band can play them…

Anyone else think they might be getting ready to do those re-recordings?

Thinking about White Trash without John Avila is scary. That album has such perfect sound.

Re-recording the entire library is just a pipe dream.

But it would make WNHTYNH better.

Why would they rerecord anything except for the last of the songs from Everything Sucks that have never been rerecorded? TTRO and everything after were recorded in fine quality.

If they re-record the other songs they'll have the rights to all their songs again. Lets hope this is one time that Aaron's control issues work in our favor.

if they do a re-record I hope to god it's a boxed set… I really don't want to track down and buy all the re-records separately. but a boxed set with some extras wold be something i'd drop cash on.

It's not going to happen.

They'd have to re-record Drunk Again. YEAH RIGHT!

But where did this rumour come from?

I remember at least one interview where Aaron said they would re-record their songs.

I'm not going to look for it though.

On Dan Regan's twitter page, he has stated that they have already rerecorded their old albums, or were in the process of doing so. He does not seem clear on whether they will release the stuff or not. They may be doing so just to regain ownership of their old stuff (isn't that what the live album was for?) I would love to have a box set of rerecordings. It would be cool to hear what CU! and WNHTYNH would have possibly sounded like without major label influence. If anyone has twitter, message him and see if you can get an answer on a release. I have tried and gotten no response. !lol

I'm unsure. Something about the contract they were in stating that the label owned and controlled the use and distribution of everything they have ever done. By rerecording the songs, it apparently gives the band ownership again. I'd still love to hear the rerecordings. 😀

They'd be fools to go to all the effort of re-recording the songs and not make them available.

It's just a matter of time now.

Cheer Up without major label input? I'm intrigued, but scared of what I might find out. 🙁

I'm more concerned with the fact that it would be lacking Carlos de la Garze. Ryland is good, but there was just something about Carlos's playing that made that album not suck.

Well, if I could hear WAFR? live with Ryland, it might help me understand if he was up to it.

We've already heard all these songs, leave the past alone and record some new hits.

They would only own the rights to the re-recorded albums, everything else would still be owned by Jive. In order for them to make money off their old stuff the same hits would have to be hits again.

I just think it's a waste of money to record everything again. It's expensive and if they're going to rush then it won't sound the same.

Are they just procrastinating new songs because they have writers block?

I have to agree with this, sadly. But still, I'd like to have the boxed set if they make it.

edit:
FUCK WHAT I JUST SAID, if re-recording their old stuff implies hearing old (rare) songs live I'm TOTALLY with it!
