The making of Monkeys for Nothin'. It's the song they were "mixing" that never made it onto the album. I guess they stripped it of the original vocals and partially turned the vocal melody into an instrumental melody. Though I did like the lyrics, for what little we got to hear of them. I'm glad they're doing instrumentals again.

To be honest, MP3 incentive tracks piss me off, but if RBF continues to release them, I guess I'll continue to pirate them.

Upon further inspection of the Monkeys video, the "are you sure this is cool?" "WE'RE NOT SURE IF THIS IS COOL" was in the original version, but most of the other vocals have been taken out. I'm willing to bet the end of the final product was a conclusion to the incredibly pessimistic, even by RBF's standards, original song.

I really want a version with those lyrics…

Oh gosh. Make Believe and The Red Album suffer from this. There are actual albums that can be made from the dropped song. Make Believe has the so-called "Fallen Soldiers," and Red has Rivers' "Deliverance at Hand!" demos, most of which didn't make it to the album.

I'm glad that Aaron puts most of his songs on albums, but every so often (So Much for Rock and Roll, Are You Sure This is Cool), a great song falls through the cracks. I wish Aaron would have worked on this song like he did for Turn the Radio Off and So Much for Rock and Roll, rather than just strip the vocals, throw in an instrumental, and call it a song.

But at least we got the song.

Maaaaaan. All he had to do was record So Much For Rock and Roll, take that song plus Bang! The Mouse Explodes and Are You Sure This Is Cool and replace Please Don't Tell Her, Everybody's Drunk and Live Your Dream with them and BAM! Great album.

I don't; Monkeys really wasn't that great. My favorite tracks were re-records anyway, and ones that never get played live (except I'm Her Man). Hopefully, Aaron's learned his lessons (at least as far as production and cohesiveness go) from that album.

I don't dislike Live your dream actually. New version of you just bothers me because of the non-musicality of the chorus's lyrics – if it had been "it's A new, it's A new etc." it would have been much much better.
The only song omn Monkeys I really can't stand is Please don't tell her. My second cut would be Way back, I never liked that song.
