If they rerecord the songs, they get the rights to the OLD recordings too? How does THAT work?

I'm unsure. Something about the contract they were in stating that the label owned and controlled the use and distribution of everything they have ever done. By rerecording the songs, it apparently gives the band ownership again. I'd still love to hear the rerecordings. 😀

On Dan Regan's twitter page, he has stated that they have already rerecorded their old albums, or were in the process of doing so. He does not seem clear on whether they will release the stuff or not. They may be doing so just to regain ownership of their old stuff (isn't that what the live album was for?) I would love to have a box set of rerecordings. It would be cool to hear what CU! and WNHTYNH would have possibly sounded like without major label influence. If anyone has twitter, message him and see if you can get an answer on a release. I have tried and gotten no response. !lol

According to a band member's twitter page, they appear to be re-recording all of the material they had on the major labels in order to reclaim it so that they don't need permission to use their own songs. It's not clear if they will release the re-recordings or not. Personally, I'd love to hear updated versions of TTRO, WDTRSH and CU. I want a new album of non-cover songs more though. 8)
