Last I heard, it was a 4.5, but centered out near Amy, so I'm sure it was a pretty good jolt for her. You OK, girl?

My sister lives in Fullerton (about halfway between Amy and me) and she said it was shaking pretty good at her house. As for me, I'm closer to the coast, so I felt it, but wasn't sure it was actually an earthquake, until I saw the news reports. But my cat sure freaked out!

All good here, just jolted nerves and bruised knees from hitting the ground. You forget how hard you fall when you're an adult !dodge . It shook bad over here, but it probably didn't help being close to the epicenter. A rough idea…I'm inside the vicinity of the star on the map below ( courtesy of the USGS website)

I didn't even know it happened. See on that map there where it says "Fillmore?" That's my hometown, and I'm about 20 miles west from there now, so I didn't feel a thing.

You're close to Ventura, yeah? I barely felt it in Long Beach. So I'm not surprised you didn't feel it.

That sounds like the way to do it.

It sure does! See, I fucking hate these things. If I had a warning before they hit…I'd always carry around a bottle of tequila in my purse.

We had a little quake here last month, it wasn't a big thing but we never get any, so it was pretty impressive.

    • #20153

i didn't feel much in my area. there was a little shaking…if it had gotten stronger, i would have been concerned but i pretty much just watched my desk sway a little then laughed at amy freaking out. (love ya!! 😉 )

is it just me or has a lot of the earthquakes been centered closer to amy?

    • #20159

I'm centrally located next to most of the fault lines with the exception of Northridge and Sylmar. When San Andreas goes nuts…say a little prayer for me, because I'll need it.

Jon, I always have to text you when they happen! I was worried that the last one was near you.

i want to get an apartment for myself first. i'm too cluttered with everything in my room and my sis occupies everything else in the apartment so i don't really get the chance to clear up from my room.

Hunter, you just made me have a flashback. One time I went to a party and crashed at the person's house for the night. They had a waterbed in the guest room, and I thought my cell phone dropped in between the water mattress and the frame it was sitting on. I stuck my hand in between the mattress and the frame to look for it, and felt some weird shit…wasn't sure what it was. So, I get up to turn on the light to see what it was….I lifted the mattress back up again and it was a family of about 200 roaches crawling around, fuckin' NASTAY!

Needless to say, I sat outside for a couple of hours til' my buzz wore off and then drove home.

The weird thing was it was a super clean house! I still don't get it to this day, but I have issues staying at peoples' houses now when I'm invited, lol!

True story, and always check guest rooms out thoroughly at friends houses before you decide to sleep over. Gargoyles!

    • #20183

I got a weird thing about sleeping over at anyone's place. I normally try to avoid it. The times I have done it, I can never get to sleep.

    • #20192

Same here. Although I enjoyed a stay at a friend's cabin up in Big Bear but normally I want to be in my own bed…especially after that roach incident.

You guys are pussies. In Seattle, in 2000, we had a 6.8 and only 1 person died and it was from a heart attack.

Well, he failed to mention that the Seattle quake was centered 30 miles below the earth's surface. There's a huge difference between 30 miles below and 10 to 15 miles below. The deeper the quake, the more earth there is to absorb the shock of the shaking. The shallower the quake, the more you're gonna feel it above the surface, because that's where the energy is gonna be released.

…Oh, and that 6.8 created 2 billion dollars in damage in Seattle alone. So for a 6.8, 30 miles below…you Seattle pansies have some retrofitting to do 😉
