That's really the only information so far. -

MemberApparently they're going for a "hard rock" feel, but the lyrics are similar to the less mature stuff on Red and essentially all of Raditude.
So it's going to be Maladroit-style music with Raditude lyrics. It certainly won't be their worst album. This band will never be as good as they used to be, but at least their new albums can end up somewhat decent.

The WindMemberThe only album I really don't like as it is is Make Believe. There are like two good tracks on that one.

[/quote1279600696]I love Make Believe, but maybe because of the mellowness of it all. I can understand why people don't like it. I find The Blue Album and Pinkerton to be incredibly superior to anything that came after, but I thoroughly enjoy Maladroit, Make Believe, and The Red Album (especially the deluxe edition.) I used to like The Green Album, but now I find it so boring and repetitive. And Raditude was just shit.

The WindMemberI disagree that Raditude is shit, but it's consistent the way through; so you really can't have a mixed feeling about it. If you don't like the sound they went for, you'll hate it all.
I think it's great. -

[/quote1279603370]I never listened to Weezer as much for music as I did for lyrics. I mean, the lyrics on Pinkerton are fantastic. Across the Sea, Falling for You, Butterfly? Amazing. And even then, the music is strong and doesn't stray into generics.
Unfortunately, Raditude's music, even when good, is generic, and the lyrics are so embarassingly bad. I do like certain songs, but not enough to save what is, in my opinion, an awful album.
This new album will probably be better. I hear Rivers wants to call it "Heavy Mental." It would describe both the music and the lyrics perfectly, in that order.

The WindMemberAnd here I am on the opposite side: I don't listen to any band for lyrics. I do realize Raditude's lyrics are very shallow high school, but I think the music is great fun pop rock. Rivers is a super weird guy. It's hard to tell if he's being ironic the entire time. I've heard the theory that the generation that grew up with Weezer, for Pinkerton he was writing what he felt, which happened to be what they felt. The problem is they grew up and he didn't.

[/quote1279654466]He's definitely not, and he definitely didn't.
Rivers Cuomo is definitely batshit insane. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it sucks.

MemberHonestly, I think Pinkerton is good, not great. It's just a bit too weird for me to truly love. Don't get me wrong, I love "El Scorcho" and "Pink Triangle," but there just isnt enough for me to grab on to. I think that the blue album is their best, partially because it was what I grew up listening to, but I'm also partial to make believe. The red album was pretty bad, except for a few tracks, including their awesome cover of The Band's "The Weight".
I don't mind Raditude. It's delightfully mediocre. -

MemberNo, but in 2010, Weezer's doing a two night per city tour where they're playing The Blue Album and Pinkerton in their entirety.
Nothing else matters.

Holy crap. Best since Pinkerton.
[/quote1283867777]I wouldn't say this exactly, but it's fucking great. Way better than Raditude and the standard version of The Red Album. I'll wait until the excitement dies down. Ruling Me and Unspoken are some of the best Weezer songs ever, though. The chorus to Ruling Me is just genius and Unspoken is proof that Rivers needs to get back to being serious about music.
The only bad song is Smart Girls, in my opinion. The deluxe tracks are throwaway, though. Which is fine, because the Deluxe tracks for The Red Album should have been on the album itself. Rivers finally knows how to make an album again, I think.
The best part is that this album has Jorge Garcia's face on the cover. You wouldn't take it seriously at all at first glance.

Rock it With IMemberYeah, it definitely beats the shit out of Red and Raditude. I liked Red and Raditude enough to listen to em, but this one is damn better.
Good vocals, pretty raw for a good portion of the album.
Nothing terribly corny like some of the past radio hit songs.
Still very Weezer, but unique-ish
I think there is a stream online of the whole thing somewhere, just listen to it once or twice and then decide if ya wanna steal it 🙂

[/quote1287296015]Tragic Girl isn't a Pink B-side, or even an outtake. Rivers wrote it shortly after Pinkerton was released, but thinks it fits in perfectly with the material.
And I can see why…it's on the same level as Across the Sea and Falling for You. I think it's one of the best Weezer songs (n)ever released, and that includes Rivers' Alone albums.
