I agree; I've only given One by One, In Your Honor and Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace one listen each, but already Foo Fighters, The Colour and Shape and There Is Nothing Left To Lose are better.

This is very exciting for me:
In Belgium all we have is Quick (those of you who have been to France will recognise this) & McD.
Burger King is much tastier (the vegetation doesn't taste like it spent a few years fermenting at the bottom of a dumpster) and the burgers are much, much bigger than what we get in Belgium (saying they're twice the size is actually a fairly good estimate).

just my opinion but: it sucks. there's a couple good songs but overall the album is a poor man's tragic kingdom complete with mostly mediocre songs.

Yeah, I wanted some 90s ska. I was in the mood.

I like The Black Parade, listened to it twice. It's not shit, it's got some good stuff. Sounds a lot like Queen and Bowie. I really don't know how to base it toward their other albums, I've only heard "I'm Not Okay."
Though I do like how they really got into the album and created stage personas for it.

Well, the Flamin' Groovies "Teenage Head" album is like a more rockabilly and blues influenced album, but still reminiscent of the Rolling Stones' "Sticky Fingers" style of rock n roll.

I have to make the comparison otherwise you have no idea what I'm talking about. But I'm not comparing the quality of the two bands. (Even though the Groovies wipe the floor with the Stones)

      Mmmmm… hardly.

      [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfG8s-kIndc]This song is essentially Bowie's Five Years.[/link]

Pretty ripped off, actually. That aside, I don't see how saying that the style is similar is disrespectful at all, considering they were obviously aiming for that style.

Also, Bowie and especially Queen have also written some pretty shit music, too, but what can you expect from damn near 40 years of music is Bowie's case.

Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is don't tell me that I'm being disrespectful for comparing two artists, that's just stupid.

Here's my pictures from Warped Tour. The second to last one is Oreskaband. I only got to see their last song because Reel Big Fish's signing was at the same time as their show. The last one is Say Anything. Max is sexy, not as sexy as Aaron or Scott though. not to mention protect against crackheads too.

Pretty much, but what I got isn't agressive enough to take down a crackhead. It's just a deterrent if you had to stare down the barrel of it, and it'd probably kill your high.

So it was delivered Thursday and I did the suggested "leak-test". I submerged the case and headphones in water for 1/2 hour to see if there were any leaks. There didn't seem to be. I went camping Friday morning, so I couldn't do a better test until tonight when I got home. I put my ipod in it and took it out to the pool. It worked great! The real test will be tomorrow when I go to the gym and do an actual workout. It's a pretty crazy looking contraption. My camera broke, but I'll try and post a picture when I can.

P.S. I did my swimming workout at the gym today with my ipod. I had to adjust the earphones a couple of times, but I think by the end of my workout, I had kind of figured it out. I did notice a couple of people looking at me wondering if I was listening to music. No one said anything though.

      I propose a bet:

If the Red Sox win the World Series I get to change your signature to whatever I want and you have to keep it for one month.

If the Angels win the World Series You can make my signature for one month.

If any other team wins the World Series then nothing changes.

I bought the XBOX 360, and it came with Gears of War and DOA Volleyball, only they didn't have DOA Volleyball so I got $20 off any game, and I went with RB2.

      Cool.

Do you know where I can pick up a Wii Sports? The one that comes with the bundle? Mine's all messed up and I can't find a store that sells them without having to buy the whole damn system. Been to E.B., Best Buy, pawn shops and I can't find the damn things anywhere.

i like it so far. i think it's been unfairly criticized because it's a starwars game and had it been any other game, it'd be getting 7's and 8's out of ten instead of 5's and 6's.

and travis, anything on the PS3 isn't worth the money. the PS3 isn't worth the money.

Okay. I'd hate to think that after all these years you still wouldn't know my name.

Yeah, I don't own a PS3. Way too expensive, although it does have it's contrasting points to the 360; built-in-wireless, free online (although worse), more power (I think?), developers prefer to develop for it over the 360… that can't be it, can it?

i think the biggest contrasting point is disc space. blu ray allows for much more information and story to be put on a disc than any other formats. that's the only advantage i think the ps3 really has. the processor is more advanced but the graphics card and that end of the processing is worse than the 360. cell processing is cute for decoding the human genome but not so much for figuring out where a ray of light should reflect.

In this economy, how can you all afford to buy this stuff? I'm teaching full time, but I got myself in such a pickle that I'm wearing clothes that are WAY too big on me. I can't afford to buy clothes that fit me after losing weight. I'm stealing leftovers from my parents house so I don't have to go grocery shopping. I'm poor! !sad

I actually haven't bought much of anything at all. In fact, since we're so short on money, my family is putting Christmas off for a little bit.

A live show filmed on The Pick Of Destiny (It's Awesome)

A Documentary About the d dealing with the failage (monitarrily) of the film…. it's probably the best thing on the DVD… it's really… REAL

there's also TV performances and music videos

if you're going to buy it i'd suggest buying the best buy version, it's got extra stuff on it (out takes from the documentary, they're worth it)

Queen + Paul Rodgers – The Cosmos Rocks (Best Buy Collector's Edition) – $119.00
      includes:
Queen + Paul Rodgers – The Cosmos Rocks (CD) + Japan Live DVD
Queen + Paul Rodgers – The Cosmos Rocks (180g Double LP)
Queen – Queen II (180g LP)

Queen – A Night At The Opera (180g LP)
Queen – A Day At The Races (180g LP)
      Cool Box

now, a month ago I wouldn't have bought this in a million year… but I had a change of heart

I hate that they're using the Queen name 'cause it makes it seem like paul's trying to replace freddie… but besides that, it's really a new band, compared to classic queen they suck… but then again, so does everyone

(the classic LPs were the big selling point… the price was kind of steep… but it was a gift and it was a best buy exclusive

[quote]I like Vinyl… audibly, there's supposed to be no difference (since I KNOW RBF recorded this one digitally) but for some reason everything seems punchier! IT'S AWESOME![/quote]

It's true that it's all digital when recorded but cds can only handle being 16bits at 44.1khz which is [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Book_(audio_CD_standard)]Red Book Standard[/link]. [i]But[/i] most studios record at 24-bit/96kHZ or even higher so the quality is high up until they burn the cd for mix down or mastering at which point they'll lower it so it can be distributed on cds. When it comes to vinyl they can leave the sampling rate higher the whole time, depending on the vinyl record speed. Plus vinyl can sometimes have a larger frequency range, the bass on a cd may be cut off at a low frequency while the record wouldn't which equals more thump and punch.

      The more you know…

Well, I've already gone five posts in a row, one being a double post (plzfixandykthxbai), so why stop now? I love how JD and I are pretty much the most broke people on here. Before I go any further, I am now drunk so please excuse my rant… It's been a fucking minute since I've had the chance to post one of these and the Best Buy board CERTAINLY wouldn't approve of this. It makes me sad to know that I will probably never meet Adam or see Jon again, or even get to meet John. But the fact that the real members have stayed loyal here puts a smile on my face. Everything I've typed so far is gay. gaygaygayagyagyagyagyagyagygayagyagay. try doing that… typing "gay" multiple times at a high speed… shit doesn't work out. I have the MP3's but I'm waiting for the next paycheck because I want "What's Goin' On" on vinyl (since there's not much of a reason to own the CD if I have the MP3s…) yeah, "What's Goin' On" is a masterpiece ("Let's Get It On" takes second.)

I have "Midnight Love" on vinyl (got it new for a buck). and, to be honest, I think it's better than "Thriller". (as far as 80's pop albums go… I know most will disagree)

Gaye was a fucking genius and anyone who makes fun of his body of work hasn't been listening… so much heart, so much soul… and his voice! really an inspiration.

      It's completely forgettable.

I used to love Everything Goes Numb, too. But as the years pass, I just see it as a band substituting songwriting for musicianship and half the songs have not aged very well at all. As odd as it sounds, I think I only like about half the album now.

The new album was pretty much just rewrites of older songs and generic SM songs with no unpredictability whatsoever.

Don't even get me started on the lyrics. I used to think they were smart, now I just find them cringe worthy.

Though I still like Catch 22's Keasbey Nights a great deal. It's somehow dated better than anything SM has done since.

in all honesty, with "Somewhere in the Between" I like alot of the songs…. I like it more than EGN and KN…. songs I Love from SitB:
      1. We Will Fall Together
      2. Down, Down, Down to Mephisto's Cafe
      3. Would You Be Impressed?
      4. One Foot on the Gas, One Foot in the Grave
      6. Somewhere in the Between

that was enough to warrant buying the full album because I like the other songs too.

I think it's the best streetlight album and, although maybe this is weird, when I listen to it all I can think about is how, with the right story/director/cast it'd make a fucking bitchin' musical film.

[/quote1246939929]They relate to pseudo-intellectuals, so they'll probably resort to some sort of internet 'wit' to try to mock me. An unfortunate habit ska fans of recent times have acquired.

I probably prefer Keasbey because it was just a band trying different things instead of a band doing the same thing with tiny variations.

And Art, We Will Fall Together is easily the most bland song they've ever done. Whenever I hear people mention they like it, I get confused. The whole thing is literally nothing but reused song parts from EGN. Which they pretty much used throughout the album.

I used to like Mephisto until I realized it was basically 'Failing Flailing' barely rewritten at all.

As for the songs I still like from the band: That'll Be The Day, Point/Counterpoint, Failing Flailing, A Moment Of Violence, The Saddest Song. I can tolerate Everything Went Numb and ABPABT, but that's about it.

The Conduit has the best controls i've honestly played on a FPS. Everything is completely customisable and I mean everything, so you can choose when he camera starts to turn as you move around etc.

The game itself is a bit generic but good fun, nothing mind blowing. But the online is the best on Wii and supports voice chat. It's also being seen as a benchmark for hardcore wii sales, so if this doesn't sell, don't expect to see similar games in the future much.

So yeah, everyone go buy it and we'll get some games going.

    • #23333

Yeah is usually goes for pretty ridiculous prices. For some reason, it's the only album that's really rare and out of print by them, the rest are all relatively easy to find. I got it for $16 which was ok and I since I have the rest, I just decided to go for it.

Legal smoke blend, gives a nice high – similar to, but milder than, weed. Which is the point. And at £5 for 25g you can't go wrong!

Weed flavoured cigs, except they don't taste a great deal like pot, only vaguely. Made without baccy, the ingredients are: Catnip, skullcap, wild lettuce and mint. I'm not as much of a fan as I thought I would be.

I don't have every Weird Al album since I don't think all his albums are that strong (like Running With Scissors) so this type of thing is perfect for me.

Plus, now I can finally get this song on an album:

I think the Essential series is the best in greatest hits, too. Since they usually have everything top tier about the band in them. (Baring a few songs)

He demeans him on Cheer Up!. If you check the liner notes, it has:
      Additional musicians:
      Tavis Werts – Trumpet, Flugal Horn (tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 13, 15 and 16)
Tyler Jones – Really, Really, Really, Really Ridiculously Good Trumpet (tracks 7, 10 and 14)

I also never before realized how much Tavis recorded on that album.

    • #25365

Tavis was there for basically the entire sessions. The ones that Tyler recorded on were basically supplementary after they got their new deal.

The album was basically done before Tavis was gone.

The Wii's a great system, what are you on about?

For instance: Most of my housemates don't really play video games but they do play Mario Kart a lot and being able to use my old GC controllers makes 4 player possible and more importantly cheap.

Also I get to revisit all my GC classics whenever I feel like it. Bonus.

With a good sized SD card, it's pretty easy. My only gripe is that N64 and later systems still aren't perfected yet on there.

But it's definitely nice to be able to play Duck Tales on my TV without trying to start the system for about 20 minutes.

i havent touched my wii in probally about 6 months

      it just sits there

my xbox i havent touched in about 3 months too

if i'm ever playing a wii. it's usually just to play drunk bowling with my friends. we have rules and shit we add to it to make it more exciting. and i tend to play the whole game backwards bowling

Yeah, but that's not pathetic, because the best game on the Gamecube is a really great Gamecube game, not a really great Nintendo 64 game.

Gamecube and N64 sucked ass. The Wii has 3 top notch Mario games, MadWorld, House Of The Dead Overkill, A Boy & His Blob, ExciteBots, Punch Out, Red Steel 2 (1 is shit, though), Monster Hunter Tri, Silent Hill : Shattered Memories, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, No More Heroes 1 & 2, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, Wario Land: Shake It!, and soon to be announced stuff at E3, and a bunch of awesome WiiWare games that ain't on the other systems as well as some virtual console games that have never come out here before.

It's not a perfect system, but it's the most I've enjoyed a Nintendo system since the almighty SNES.

The N64 had a bunch of shitty, overrated platformers that have dated absolutely horribly. But it does have Mischief Makers, Star Fox 64, and Smash Bros. 64. Even if the Mario Kart on this system is easily the worst console version available.

The Gamecube had like a great Zelda and Mario Kart game and that's it aside from like 4 games that weren't ported to other systems. (That can also be played on the Wii)

The Wii seems to have more niche games, though. It's not a system for everyone, which is weird since it is the one everyone has.

I was going to get mad at first, but I actually agree with most of that. I remember getting a N64 for Christmas when I was 5, and I had no clue what it was… My parents were more excited than I was. They told me later I almost got a Super Nintendo instead, which would have sucked

I don't know, Jackknife let me down. Half the album is great, but could easily be on any album they've already done. The rest are just… Not good songs.

I mean every album up to that point had been the band changing it up every album.

Devil's Night Out was ska core meeting hard rock.
More Noise was a more alternative and rock.
Party was a bit more indie and less mainstream.
QTA was extremely experimental in sounds and genre ideas.
LFI was pure pop in every sense of the word.
PA was like the pop version of QTA in that they tried so much.

… Jackknife was just a ska core album with some awesome songs and some yawners. There wasn't anything special about it.

I kind of hoped they would pull out something new after being apart for so long, maybe explore some dub sounds or something instead of just putting out another batch of songs.

      Precisely.

    • #25984
      Sonic Libido

that being said, I think PP&GJ was there best working album. everything flows together with a cohesive feel (something that hasn't been present since LFI) and the sound is developed… less experimental, sure, but developed and comfortable with itself.

now, that's not to say it has all their greatest songs, there are a few sinkers here. but IMO it's there best attempt at making a true ALBUM.

How about Madden NFL? I briefly played it back in 1995 (or 96) and it was a sort of managing game – you could choose the schemes but not actually move the players. I got tired of that shit in less than 2 weeks… my father had bought it because he thought it was a football game (the European meaning of the word).

I was in Tokyo last week (yep) and I found out that the only thing cheaper over there than in Europe is:
      VINYLS.

The original Hey jude/Revolution 7″, Japanese edition, for like 6$ – are you fucking kidding me?
I ended up buying that single, 7 LPs (Beatles, Floyd, Hendrix, Specials, the Lupin the 3rd anime OST) and a Tokyo ska paradise orchestra cd. Plus a checkered ukulele.

Also, apparently Japs go nuts for Italian prog-rock from the 70s. Cool stuff, including my (and Sophie’s :D) beloved Area.
