The Fish are playing at a local university this month. Has anyone been to a college set of theirs? How long does it last?

they played at Bowdoin College (which is in my home town) back in May and I can safely say it wat the best RBF show I've ever seen. It was during the college's week long celebration of alcohol and RBF headlined… it was a match made in heaven… we weren't allowed in but the gig was outside and we found a spot on the fence about 30 yards from the front of the stage, IT WAS AWESOME!

about halfway through the set, Aaron decides he wanted to do a lap around the track (the stage was set up on the sports field) so, Aaron, Johnny & Dan, Instruments in hand take a lap around the track with 300 Drunk and/or stoned college kids in tow while Scott announces it like a horse race announcer from the stage…

Aaron got half way around the track and turned back and ran through the crowd and back to the stage. This turned the crowd into the funniest crowd of confused, inebriated teen agers since RBF circa Everything Sucks.

The set was of standard length.

Your last sentence was really all I cared about. Though the rest is a great story, there's no guarantee that what will go down at this show will be that fun.

Is there an encore? Or is it just 20 songs, kbyenow we were teh fish

I wish something even remotely as great as that would happen at this show…

But just getting to see RBF again for so cheap is going to be a godsend…I wish they would play at my school, but I attend a private Catholic university…

The show was pretty good, though the set seemed a little short.

      The setlist was:

      Sell Out
      Another F.U. Song
      In the Pit
      Ban the Tube Top
      I Want Your Girlfriend
      Brown Eyed Girl
      Good Thing/Your Guts
      She Has a Girlfriend Now
      Monkey Man/Everything Sucks
      You Don't Know
      Sandman/The Set Up
      Take on Me

      Encore:
      Trendy
S.R. (w/ punk, disco, country, and death metal)
      Beer

Ask me anything, and I shall answer. I was in the front row, a little stage-left but close enough to center.

Does the band do this thing where they try to sneak out of shows without meeting people, or was it just this show? Also, Scott didn't have his trumpet. Did something happen to his lips?

      What a weak setlist really.
I just hope they do a better setlist when I see them.
Do they got the rabbit back yet?

The setlist was fine when you're watching it, but going back and analyzing it, the fact that they played covers when they could have played Don't Start a Band and Where Have You Been? was weird…it's like they were trying to remove all the pessimistic songs from their setlist.

The Rabbit is back, and he had an awesome drum solo during the new solo section they've put into You Don't Know…by the way, the horn part directly before that solo section (which comes before the last verse) is so empty without Scott's trumpet playing.

They're playing way too much of F.U. Song and Your guts. Your Guts is fine because it makes the switch from Good Thing. An Another F.U. Song sucks ass.

      My big question is this.
How the hell did they play Monkey man and turn it into Everything sucks? I rather have it the old style of I'm Her man into Everything sucks.

Any girl vocals on Girlfriend now? And if yes, is she any good?

They cut off MM right after the LALALALA part…it was actually an awkward transition. Should have been I'm Her Man. :/

And yeah, the singer on SHAGN was great…her name was Scott.

SCott not playing trumpet is a really, really bad sign. I hope it was just for that night due to herpes or any temporary lip problem.

Does anyone know if he played at the Scholars show? Not playing trumpet gave him the opportunity to explore the stage, and they mixed Johnny up to compensate, but certain songs (such as the aforementioned You Don't Know) kinda suffered from a lack of his playing. I hope it was either a lip problem or a problem with his instrument.

Scott's also been rocking a new guitar, a dark red Strat, and his voice was in full effect. Derek's also really improved since I last saw him. Aaron's been doing more with the pedals. He added a wah effect in In the Pit that really added more substance to the verse. And his distortion pedals now have a little more growl to them (and the clean guitar doesn't sound like shit anymore.)

Not much to say about Dan, John, and Ryland, since they were all as great as usual.

Video's on RBF's Facebook don't show Scott playing trumpet at the Scholars show that I can see.

RBF played at Rowan twice while I was there. Once they were headlining and played a full set (90 mins probably). The next time they opened for Third Eye Blind, so only played about 45 minutes I believe. As a joke, they started to play Sell Out midway through (they had already opened with it), but the idiots in the audience wanted them to play it again…. so they did. Played Sell Out twice. Wonderful.

I wouldn't mind hearing Sell Out live twice, it's a fantastic song.

The morons at my show were screaming for them to play Come On, Eileen. I don't know if they were joking.

About Sell Out being a fantastic song?

Well, it certainly charted for a reason.

I'm not debating how good the song is, I'm talking about actually wanting it to be played twice.

It would be nice to hear other songs. I dare Aaron to make a set list without Sell Out in it.

I'd rather hear Sell Out twice than hear Beer live ever again.
