Reminds me of a good IWTOC song mixed with Borders & Boundaries.

I like it, I'm glad they're bringing back the ska after their previous label took almost all of it out.

      Also…

Why does this album cost over 30 bucks to preorder? I live in Canada, not fucking Antartica. I've bought CDs from lesser known bands for less then a 3rd of that cost. Get with it, LTJ.

the horn part at the beginning makes me think mistake by FoE.

The horn parts sounds like something Catch 22 would write.

The songs not bad. I'm more interested in hearing the album as a whole, but it's nothing mind blowing.

The first thing I thought when I heard this was "punked-up Streetlight". Very promising indeed.

    • #12015

It was pretty cool, I don't think it's worth 30 bucks to pre-order. Wow!

It's good. Better than most the stuff after Hello Rockview. It seems like RBF LTJ and Goldfinger have turned back to good 3rd wave ska/punk that made them known. The good thing about this new LTJ song is that the drummer is actually on time, although it's clearly Pro Tools that is helping.

I'm starting to think that the 4th wave is going to just be a 3rd wave revival.

4th wave has way too much skacore shit. Skacore was nice, when I was like 14. Unless you mix it up, it all sounds exactly the same. And nobody mixes it up.

Not enough 2-Tone and 1st wave influence, too much trying to 'out-ska punk' the third wave bands. Boooring.

So…. the 4th wave has started? I wouldn't consider it a wave until something more significant happens. Plus skacore has been around for a long time.

I mean the newer bands out now. Almost all of them play bland skacore. Or try ska metal or equally unappealing shit.

I actually do think the third wave is over, even if a bunch of the third wave bands are around. They're not really in the limelight anymore, it's all about the newer guys.

I don't know if you'd call it the 4th wave, but I think the third wave is over.

I still like my term "low tide" it's all about letting these little trends and fads stir up the water but not caring because it won't make it to shore. I should make a wikipedia page about this.

As for the 3rd wave, yeah it's over but not everybody has let it go. The same could be said for the 1st and 2nd waves.

So is it the worst album ever? 😮

    • #12904

It's actually not too bad so far. Haven't had much time to listen to it, but what I have heard, is pretty decent LTJ material.

and go here if ya want it:

I really like it. It's like a combination of all their styles since Hello Rockview.

They recovered from the slight songwriting slip on 'In With The Out Crowd'. (Despite a few great songs and B-sides)

Probably not their best album, but it's as catchy as Anthem without the production problems. Also, the horn lines are finally back in full force.

I will continue calling them the Cheap Trick of ska.

Too bad Karen's not here to remind us how much LTJ sucks and how they sold out on this album or some shit.

    • #13228

ltj ran out of songs sometime around borders and boundaries (their last truly good album).

I thought you liked Anthem and B-Sides?

As for good post-B&B songs… 'Ghosts Of Me & You', 'Science Of Selling Yourself Short', 'Motown Never Sounded So Good', 'Escape From The A-Bomb House', 'Best Wishes To Your Black Lung', 'Plastic Cup Politics', 'Brightest Bulb/Screws Fall Out', 'Portrait Of a Cigarette Smoker…', 'Sleep It Off', 'Bridge And Tunnel Authority', 'A.S.A.O.K.', 'Sobriety Is A Serious Business…', '911 To Anyone', 'National Anthem', 'A Still Life Franchise', 'Mostly Memories', 'Let Her Go', 'PS Shock The World', Negative Sides Of Optimistic Eyes', 'We, The Uninspired', 'City Of Gainsville', 'The State Of Florida', 'Summon Monsters', 'Abandon Ship', 'Handshake Meets Pokerface', 'Malachi Richter's Liquor's Quicker', 'Golden Age Of My Negativ Ways', 'The Space They Can;t Touch', 'Conviction Notice', 'This One Is Going To Leave A Bruise', 'The Life Of The Party Has Left The Building', and 'Devil In My DNA' are all pretty great songs.

Ironically, I thought they forgot to finish writing songs on B&B and just recorded whatever they had left for the most part.
