But this is the lamest scare tactic I've seen. [link=http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080704/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_guantanamo_bay]White House says ruling could free detainees in US[/link]

The White House said Thursday that dangerous detainees at Guantanamo Bay could end up walking Main Street U.S.A. as a result of last month's Supreme Court ruling about detainees' legal rights.

"I'm sure that none of us want Khalid Sheikh Mohammed walking around our neighborhoods," White House press secretary Dana Perino said about al-Qaida's former third in command.

Even if this latest ruling did make it true that we have to release prisoners, Khalid is not a citizen so he wouldn't be released into America.

Has Canada been doing lame things like this since 9.11?

No, not really. We have our problems, but that's not one of them. Even if some people want us to be more like the US. Fortunately it's a minority government so they've been distracted by other issues mostly.

The Conservatives are trying, though. Completely forgetting the fact that the only reason they're in charge is because nobody voted for the liberals which led to a minority government in the first place. The liberals got their hands caught in the cookie jar 5 times too many, the conservatives only won because the liberals kept fucking up. It's not like anyone wanted them there.

It's like when voting for class president but hardly anyone votes because the two kids nominated are total choads, only one of them punched you in the face every day for ten years and called you a fag in front of your mother. While the other one simply flips you off any time you ask a question and pours salt on your lawn.

Well, at least none of the kids tied you to a board and tried to drown you. But now that you compared your country to that, I guess my plan B of moving to Canada to escape dumb politicians just went out the window. I still want to find a small country I can trick into thinking that I should be their choosen leader, Cuba looked promising for a while but Fidel thwarted my plans by letting his bro take over. I'm pretty sure I'd have made a better communist leader than him.

Canada ain't perfect, especially Quebec. The further west you go from here, the more interesting the climate becomes. The people aren't as rude, or as terrible drivers, and the weather isn't so shitty.

I even know the entire Canadian national anthem by heart and I'm not Canadian. I also love Oh, Canada by Five Iron Frenzy, great song.

bush, cheney, rumsfeld, rove, wolfowitz, and pearle should all be waterboarded for days and then on the last day, just let them drown.

Well, we don't have any Frenchmen, if that's what you're getting at.

Around here, if you manage to talk to anyone in english, you're guaranteed to get shitty service.

God help you if you're a tourist. (Stay the fuck away. Seriously.)

Last time I took a vacation in Ontario (a while ago), I was impressed to learn there are places where customer service actually matter and the people don't treat you like an asshole for speaking your native language. What novelty!

Come to California and tell me you have to be a citizen to roam our neighboorhoods.

Haha, good point but I doubt he'd be released into any part of North or South America. He'd be back in the middle east on the no-fly list for sure.

I live in Oakville. I don't know if you've heard of it, but pretty much everyone is a rich prick. Where in Ontario were you?

A little girl, maybe 10 or 12 years old, sang "Oh,Canada" before the national anthem at the Angel game yesterday (since we were playing Toronto). I was pretty impressed she learned the words!

I was really bored one night so I just looked up the lyrics online and took about 10-20 minutes and I memorized it forever.

Yeah, I was in the scouts as a little kid and memorized the thing.

      I still remember it. 😀

In Belgium it's not the Government lying to us, scaring us or whatever that we have to worry about, it's the Government remaining existent.
