Who has both versions? Whose is better? I've only heard Catch's once in the background.

Catch 22's is the better version by far.

Streetlight doesn't have any of the youthful 'this is our first album so we're make it rock' energy. It's just to 'clean' and perfect. The playing is tighter and the solo's better but I still prefer the C22 original. And the snare sounds horrible throughout on SM's.

They're both worth having but Catch 22's is better.

Streetlight's is better.

Because it's not as rough as the Catch-22 version. And since it's ska and not punk the roughness doesn't really matter.

SM's versions of Dear Sergio, Day In Day Out and Kristina are far better than the originals.

And the snare sounds awesome, usually I hate snare on ska albums because it doesn't sound like a snare it sounds like a popcorn popping or something.

i like catch's version better. much better energy, and the ending of 1234 1234 doesn't suck nearly as hard as sm's version. i still hate that ending.

Was this all sarcasm? I remember you complaining about RBF's snare on TTRO. I would have thought you would hate the SM's snare on KB. I just wish more bands would let the snare ring out. Hepcat has a good sound on some of their songs.

catch 22 pros: fretless bass, more raw, the original catch 22 guys all together so there's a different energy.

streetlight pros: better recording, better musicianship, extended solos, a couple extra/new verses

i actually like streetlight's version better most of the time but c22's version is nice too.

Everything sounds find, but that snare sound is weak. I hate it. Too many ska bands have shitty snares.

the best buy i work at actually has/had 6 copies of catch's keasbey nights, as well as sm's version. i'm thinking about getting them as christmas gifts for those uneducated in good ska.
