A rerecording of the same songs we got when they rerecorded them in 2006?

A distribution deal with Best Buy?

      "Skacoustic?"

Well, a Greatest hits is something nearly every band does and is looked at way differently by the general public. as much as the live album totally pulls of the "greatest hits" role, the general public react much better to a "Greatest Hits" then they do a "Live Album". Also, this seems like an attempt by RBF to get into the big stores (like best buy). if a big chain even has an RBF section, they usually only have "Greatest hit". this is an attempt by the band to get people caught up in an accessible fashion.

I don't know why the "Skacoustic" pun honks you off so much. I actually would have been surprised if they hadn't done it. I mean, yeah, it's a corny pun… but if you hate corny puns you probably shouldn't be here.

I don't know why it has to keep being said, but some of you dudes've gotta stop expecting a masterpiece and just have fun… I highly doubt the guys would go through the trouble if there wasn't a reason to do it… I'd rather have a Greatest Hits and an Acoustic album than fucking nothing.

They have repackaged most of these songs a lot since they left the major label, though. What's worse is that the live album was pretty much the final word on that era of the band in scope and quality, what they're doing now is just treading the same water.

But I realize I don't have to buy it, and I probably won't. Just like the second live DVD and the cover album.

The thing is, I wonder how many fans also skipped over them waiting for new material, too. Monkeys wasn't apparently a "real" album according to the band, just a bunch of songs they spat out, which judging by the songs isn't probably far from the truth. If we're going by that logic, then they haven't had an album since Why Not?, which would mean they haven't made a true album in 5 years.

5 years is a long time in the world of music. Especially pop music.

What I'm really saying is, we waited 5 years for a true follow up to Why Not? so I can see why we're a bit antsy for more, but by the same token; it's been 5 years, we can wait a little longer for a true follow up to Why Not? even if we have to sit through these stop gaps.

On the plus side, after a live album, a collection of some old and new songs, a second live DVD, a cover album, and a greatest hits, there is really nothing else they can do to stall for time.

On a personal level, I just do not like the track selection. It feels like a major label chose them for a best of instead of a band or someone who knows the songs picking them. Which always leads to bad decisions.

For some positivity, I like the idea of the "Skacoustic" disc as well as the pun. I just don't like that it's mostly the same songs… Again. I also think the Best Buy thing is a good idea. I fail to see what would make this a bad idea.

I was drunk. I was out of my mind.

      I wasn't thinking straight.

Thanks for helping me look on the bright side. 🙂

I still think it would have been nice if we had had all this "bonus" material spread out over time rather than thrown at us as an alternative to completely new material. I don't take this for granted; I loved the live album, I liked some of the new stuff on Monkeys and I loved hearing some of their older stuff rerecorded, some of the covers on FFF were decent, and it's cool of them to rerecord their old stuff to put out a greatest hits for newer fans that want to get into their music, plus an acoustic album. I just would rather have not had all that in a row…it makes them seem like they're now over the hill.
