True. but maybe they mean it this time
[/quote1277614505]Or maybe by "NEW" they mean covers, either of other band's songs, or their own.
At least when Streetlight covered Keasbey Nights, they hadn't already essentially rerecorded it once before. And their covers aren't horrendously generic (some are generic, some are not, but certainly not as horribly sinfully generic as RBF's recent covers).
This "new" album is the last ray of hope I have for Reel Big Fish. They fuck it up, I'm done. And since fucking up is all they've done for the last four years, they've gotten pretty good at it…

Memberjeez, dude, will you quit your crying or leave? we get it "WAH WAH WAH REEL BIG FISH AREN'T DOING WHAT I WANT THEM TO". please just enjoy the records or fuck off. There's nothing I can do about your opinion of RBF so stop bitching to me about it.
if you want to go, go. Nobody's fucking stopping you. it's just a shame, cause you seem like a cool dude. it's just all this "I'LL GIVE UP ON THEM!…. I'LL DO IT!…. I SWEAR!" shit gets old REAAAAAALLY fucking fast.

MemberIf it's any consolation, I'm not giving up on them. But I probably will stop buying their albums. (And no, I won't download them) But I would probably go to a show if they came here.
Just because I don't like what a band is currently doing, doesn't mean I abandon them completely… Well, maybe if Aaron turns into John Feldmann.

The WindMemberI doubt I'll stop buying their albums.
But the recent live DVD I did pass over. That's something, for me. -

MemberMy one friend who was into RBF (Seriously into Cheer Up, loved Why Not? more than me by a considerable amount, adored the Live Album, and was meh on Monkeys' new stuff) is totally bored with them now. He even bought the split and thought it was alright, (which I did not buy because I didn't care for it) but the live DVD and cover album he really hated.
I haven't told him there's a best of coming out yet. I don't think his reaction will be positive. My worry is that there may not be anyone interested anymore when they finally DO a new album. My friend is pretty casual in music, but RBF is one of his faves in general, and if he's starting to wane on them, that doesn't seem good to me.
I'm not quite sure why they keep doing these releases, because I probably would have made an "Essential RBF" parody album with a parody of that Essential series with 2 discs with a huge amount "hits" all rerecorded with funny liner notes that are all weird, wrong, and misinformed about the history of RBF. Then if they really wanted to stall, release a Skacoustic album later on (with more songs and a more varied tracklist) with a bonus DVD of "campfire" performances that are sort of a satire of the VH1 storytellers stuff where they act like their silly pop song about a girl giving head is like an orgasm from the gods. It seems like more content and it would be a better deal for everyone.
But, that's me. The band can obviously do what it wants.

MemberNone of my friends like Reel Big Fish anymore, not even the friend who went to see them with me last year. The endless rehashes are starting to chip at my status as a fan as well, obviously…
