      "Well, that's a question I wanted to ask you. A lot of people get the impression that in the band it's Aaron's band and you guys get frustrated. Is there any truth to that?" "Yeah"

      Other news:
      -The Music Inc. studio was still under construction when recording FFF and all the rerecordings and still isn't finished
      -The band didn't like each other during We're Not Happy, but they weren't planning on breaking up (which is weird)
      -Aaron listens to Lady Gaga
      -Streetlight has a "pirate galley" sound

One of the ways we stayed together for so long is by giving each other space and understanding the roles. As much as I may agree or disagree with Aaron at times I don't want his job. I'd hate to do what he does. He's got a lot of pressure on his shoulders. I offer my two cents. I'm not putting my heart out there the way he is. [laughs]"

      Well once the Studio is done, We can finally have a REAL RECORD! I mean, Aaron must be blasting with ideas right now due to this break.

      The whole idea is that Aaron is just as controlling as everyone thinks it is, and it gets frustrating sometimes. Dan's just sugarcoating it. I'm sure he doesn't hate Aaron, but it seems pretty clear that we've got the right idea of him. I don't hate him, but he's the guy everyone thinks he is.

      See, it's not just that I feel 'Turn the Radio Off' and it's kin were perfect the way they were or that I think RBF should have broken up several years ago, but those albums are in such a specific context that forcibly removing said material from that setting sacrifices all of their charm. 'Turn the Radio Off' was undeniably a product of a band from the late '90s, something reflected so strongly in the music and lyricism…the music exhibits a vitality and confidence that only a bright, ambitious young band on their way to the top could deliver, and the lyrics drip of a sarcastic comic irreverence that only a Gen X twentysomething could spew with carefree abandon. By having these songs re-done by a group of jaded, thirtysomething professional musicians, they'll undoubtedly lose all of their effect….what is the message of "Everything Sucks", "Sell Out" or "Trendy" to a 35 year-old full-time musician as opposed to a wide-eyed sprite fresh out of high school and working part-time at the Dairy Queen? When does the juvenile glee of "I Want Your Girlfriend to Be My Girlfriend" or "In The Pit" go from hilarious to creepy and sad at the hands of men old enough to have children and mortgages? It just doesn't work. It's a shameless and manipulative – though, sadly, understandable – cash grab at the cost of their once golden reputation and originality. The saddest thing, of course, is that the fans will gobble it all up, not so much out of love for RBF, but because the drastic decline of the ska scene in the last decade has left everyone grabbing for straws, so desperately looking for anything at all that we're willing to sacrifice all these notions of "quality" and "tradition" in order to find it. *sigh*

      Or something. What was the question, again?

      When we first started off we were really trying hard to show that we were good musicians. So we would write all these complicated parts that may or may not serve the song. But ultimately it's the same music. It's just played a little bit better.

      See, they used to try really hard to show that they were good musicians. Now they don't try, so they don't write any interesting parts.

      Also, "It's just played a little bit better" …Really Dan??? Really??? What's played better than any of the originals?

      A lot of the songs have better musicianship than the originals.

      Dan may just be speaking for himself, 'cause some of his stuff (SHAGN, In the Pit) was amazing.

      He could have used that energy in new songs instead of the third or fourth version of a song from well over 10 years ago.

      No offense to Dan, of course, but come on. I refuse to praise a performance on a rerecording of an old song. Especially since they play it live all the damn time.

      I definitely disagree. They put this album out, so why shouldn't Dan have given it his all?

      Here's a hint: Listen to how Scott did on some of the Best Of stuff.

      Is Scott credited in the liner notes as a trumpet or guitar? I have a feeling he wouldn't have even flown out to record the horns for this one.

      I would love to listen to Scott if I could hear him over the guitar.

      I honestly don't think any of this is better, none of it has soul… it's all recorded to a click track and those songs just don't work that way.

      Trumpet and guitar.

      I wish they did like Cheer Up! and specified which songs he played guitar on. Most likely Good Thing, Where Have You Been, and Don't Start a Band, at the very least.
