I got bored and made a new version of the Monkeys album in Garage Band. I used a basic mastering track for all the songs, then I changed the order of the songs and edited the transitions from one song to the next.

      Track Listing:
Album Title: I'm Not You're Clown
      1. Cannibal
      2. Party Down
      3. My Imaginary Friend
      4. Hate You
      5. Live Your Dream
      6. Way Back
      7. Bang! The Mouse Explodes
      8. I'm Her Man
      9. Will The Revoolution Come
      10. Why DO All Girls Think They're Fat?
      11. Call You
      12. The New Version of You
      13. Till I Hit the Ground
      14. Another Day In Paradise
      15. Slow Down

I took out some parts of songs, and I made the timing in between songs more precise while trying to add the live concert feel, having songs overlap one another. I've always liked the way Dark Side of the Moon overlaps and makes all the songs cohesive on the album as a whole. You don't have to write songs like Pink Floyd to make that work, it's just like comedy and everything depends on timing.

Since I did this in Garage Band, and I made the tracks overlap one another, this is just going to be one long track, like a live show. But the whole purpose of this is the album flow as a whole, so if you want individual songs, you just have to use the other ones.

Sounds interesting, but I think you should have taken out the redone songs.

EDIT: Also, post the link in the rarities section. It's nice to have stuff like this in the list.

      You know what's weird?

Cannibal goes into Party Down so well that the horn lines even almost overlap each other.

That's really how they should play it live.

That's why I put it there, such a killer way to start the album, epically when you cut out the piano and let the tracks overlap.

Don't really like Imaginary Friend as a song, and I don't think Hate You fits in here.

Nice transition from Live Your Dream into Way Back and into Bang! The Mouse Explodes.

The rest of the transitions fit really well, though.

By the way, Call You and Revolution are reversed on your tracklist. Also, why didn't you put Another F.U. Song after Why Do All Girls…? That seemed like a good spot for it.

      Good job overall, though.

Yeah, I'm not liking the way Hate You fits in either, should just be dumped form the track listing.

I just don't like another FU song, I was trying to make the album more of musically respectable, FU would be a good B-Side.

Yeah, I thought the call out research hook would be good in there and could kind of tell a little story with those 3 songs.

Making a track list is one of the most difficult parts of an album, you have to do a lot of editing and splicing to make it sound good. That's the first thing that makes a noticeable difference in the quality of the album.

I also tried to put the songs as close together as possible, leaving only 2-4 beats in between the songs. Cutting out the dead noise between songs, and the humorous stuff really adds to the energy of the album. Like I said, I tried to make this like a live show with no commentary, and songs that start on the last note of the previous song, like Way Back, and Bang the Mouse… Gross…

Don't really like Imaginary Friend as a song.

      Good job overall, though.

Yeah, but Imaginary friend has really good lyrical content, so I had to keep it. What other song does Aaron make fun of God in?

      Almost every single one. :p

I don't know, he's not clever so much as obnoxious in that song. Plus… The music isn't too strong either.

It works in context of your mix, though. So it's fine, I guess.

Yeah, it's not quite the same as songs like Leaving Jesusland by NOFX.

We call the heartland not very smart land, IQ's are very low but threat levels are high
They got a mandate, they don't want man-dates, they got so many hates and people to despise

In the dust bowl, cerebral black hole, the average weight is well over 200 pounds
I hate to generalize, but have you seen the thighs, most haven't seen their genitalia in a while

Maybe that's why they're so scared of us
We've concerns other than fear and hunger pangs

Queers, transgends, and lesbians, vegans and vegetarians
All you brownish red and yellow ones come and join us on the coast

No longer svelte, they gotta punch new holes in the Bible belt
They've blown out the fire under the melting pot, the red blood of America is starting to clot
No compromise, no sight through others' eyes, they're just flies spreading pieces of shit
You gotta emigrate, stop living in hate, what makes this country great is dwelling on either side

They don't want visitors in Jesusland
They want life canned and bland in the fatherland

We want people with college degrees, drug use experience and STD's
People with open-minded philosophies, come hug California trees
Cultural revolution now, neo-conservatives run outta town
We're gonna burn Orange County down,
And then we're off to Riverside, Bakersfield and Fresno too, then we're coming after you

The fear stricken, born again Christian, they got a vision a homogenized state
      Textbook decline, intelligent design
They got Bill Nye on the list to execrate

They don't want visitors in Jesusland
They want life canned and bland in the fatherland

Punk Rockers and emo kids, people doing things the church forbids
Buddhists, agnostics, and atheists we're moving out of jesusland
Art students and thespians, excluding country, all the musicians
We want all hookers and comedians, nihilists are welcome too

No longer svelte, they gotta punch new holes in the Bible belt

That's just great, so much is said in that song.

Yeah, that's pretty clever. NoFX can really have a way with lyrics.

That mix of Cannibal –> Party Down is perfect.

Well, I've listened to what you have had to say, and I've decided that it DOES sound better without Hate You, and Why Do All Girls yada yada yada… Good thing I had outside ears and opinions to help make this play list better, if I didn't have help like this, I don't know what kind of crap I'd be listening to!

      See outside opinions are good!

I never really thought of Imaginary Friend as making fun of God, I always related it to my own imaginary friend from growing up.

So close, yet so far from getting it.

      That's actually how I always thought of it too, but then again, I'm a Christian, so that might be why. >_>;

The key line would be "Used to fold my hands and close my eyes". Without that, the song can be ambiguous. That line makes it blatant.

Looking through it now, it's rather obvious, but then, I didn't give the song too many listens to actually analyze the lyrics. The song kind of plods along and annoys me. >_>

I'm listening to the second version of this topic's mix. The transitions are great, especially between Bang! and I'm Her Man.

However, and I see what you were trying to do, the stuff you did with Will the Revolution Come? just didn't work for me. I would just cut out the little guitar thing at the end of I'm Her Man and go right into WtRC? from there. And why did you only broadcast the song through the right speaker? I thought you'd try something cool and have the cool RAWK part come through both speakers…it just sounds like a mistake (which it may very well be, what do I know). The transition into New Version of You is a teensy bit awkward as well. When the transitions are good (Cannibal-Party Down, Bang!-I'm Her Man, 'til I Hit the Ground-Another Day in Paradise), they're really good, but some are just really awkward.
