For once an interesting darts match takes place (Adams vs Shindall) and the coverage finishes during the deciding set so they can show University Challenge.

      Fuck Jeremy Paxman.

    • #19916

If anyone's interested: I just watched the replay and it was one of the tensest games of darts I've ever seen! Martin Adams won 3-2 after the final set being taken to 5-3.

The only time you'll see darts on tv here is if they being thrown at other people.

Really? It's like snooker over here in that noone's really interested in it until the big tournament(s) roll around and the BBC devotes a few hours each day to broadcasting it.

I just looked up snooker. It's like more complicated version of pool [or "pocket billiards"] right? Most sports here besides the few big ones are only shown when something important is happening. I like to watch obscure sports, like [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curling]curling[/link] but I rarely ever get to see it. Basicaly I know I'll be a janitor one day and I'll need something to motivate me and make me not want to quit my job, and that would be the dream of being a pro sweeper in the Olympics.

It's a good sport to watch but a game is toooo long.

And even then, there's not a lot of people interested in it anyway.

Wow! I guess our sports viewing is completely cultural. I doubt there are many of the U.S. "big four" sports shown in Europe (US Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey).

NBA (and even NCAA) basketball is quite popular over here.

      …?

I'm not a big follower now, I used to watch NBA basket back in 199X when Magic and Jordan were still playing, but then it got on satellite tv and it got too expensive.

Oh, March Madness is the NCAA Basketball National Championship Tournament. It is probably second to the Super Bowl in betting in the US.
