Well, my niece turned one on Saturday, the 6th. On Tuesday, the 9th, she was carrying her new purse she got as a present. She's still a little wobbly on her feet when she gets up some speed and she stumbled. Not wanting to let go of her new purse, she fell awkwardly on her other arm. A trip to the ER that night, then the doctor on Thursday left her like this:

2 hairline fractures in her little baby arm. She only needs the cast on for a few weeks, it should be off by Christmas. The poor thing just doesn't understand what that thing is on her arm! !lol

Awe! I hope she'll be ok. Those E.R. visits with children are a parents' and family worse nightmare. My kids have had to go a few times too and it's scary.

      Jeanie, that sucks.

I was diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone diesease) at 6 months. I spent most of my childhood in plaster.

You might want to get her tested for that. There are different levels of severity, so it may not be obvious at first, but any time a baby gets a broken arm, it's worth looking into. Especially when they're injuries that might not hurt someone else in similar circumstances (as in… she didn't fall down a flight of stairs or get hit by a baseball bat or something that would break anyone's bones).

      Just food for thought.

      yeah, that's aweful.

If I were religious my prayers would be with her.

That sucks, but why does the kid have a purse?

It's just a little girl thing. They see mom, Auntie, Grandma walking arund with a purse, and they want one. My little girl is the same way. 🙂

I broke my arm when I was about that age. I was trying to climb my stroller and I fell and it fell on top of me.

My brother also broke his arm at around that age. We were being babysat and the babysitter was carrying him upstairs to bed and it was dark and she didn't notice our rotweiller (sp?) was there and tripped over her and landed on my brother Mitch.

One time my dad was carrying me in the dark and tripped. He spun around and landed on his back so I would land on him – still broke my hip though.

      That sucked.

I'll let my sister know. Thank you all for your kind thoughts. She gets the cast off tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it goes! !lol
