MemberWhat worries me is it says "Cleveland Police" participated in the investigation. I used OiNK in Cleveland. Fuck if I get fined a shit ton of money for this I'm gonna be pissed cause I only downloaded like 1.5gigs. There are people on there with well over 200gigs of downloaded shit.

MemberYeah they are probably going to investigate all the users.. the only way you'd probably end up in prison though is if you downloaded an extreme amount. I figure even if I get into shit, I'll have a (probably large) fine, but no rape. Still worried though… nothing I can do now though.

MemberWith the amount of people that used that place, I'm gonna say you're pretty unlucky if you get personally investigated.
I wouldn't worry.

Plus it's not on my comp anymore. 🙂

jrock241MemberIs owning the music a legal excuse? Because copyright laws are strict, sometimes you can't even legally loan an album out to somebodyelse.

AdminKeymasterOne time I had some professional pics done, and the lady told me that if I made copies of them and handed them out to my friends, and she found out, she could and would sue me…Bahahaha! " Sue me BETCH!"
-

Surly
MemberWell, you're legally allowed to make a back up of your music (i.e ripping it to MP3) so if you own the actual material I think it's fine.
Like whoever said it first, I buy pretty much all my stuff except the non-commercially availible stuff.

AdminKeymasterAny music I get online, I purchase through iTunes. Otherwise I actually have fun going to a music store and picking out my music. 🙂

Memberfyi – in the future when many, many more sharing sites like this are inevitably created, you might want to use a tool like PeerGuardian to protect yourself.

jrock241MemberAll the music stores [both national and independant] around me have shut down. All I have now is Best Buy and Target, I miss being able to wander around looking for rare cds, not just whats new and on the radio.
