We got Aaron, Scott, and Grant coming out of The Scholars. I mean, they used to work together and stuff, which mean they already understand each other.

Dan, Scott, Grant, and Tavis are great Horns players on this album too. Yeah yeah pull out a "FUCK TAVIS" joke, but still he's a pretty good horn player.

Aaron and Matt are monsters on guitar. Aaron's kick ass Ska guitar and Matt's awesome bass line.

And Andrew!!! …………….welll he just there. But he alright.

Come on, can't we all agree that this line-up was pretty good? Can't we call it the Classic Line-Up?

I like the fact that Grant added a lower level to the trombones, and I like the idea of four horns (remember that for a while there were pretty much only two?), but Tavis was a pretty average trumpet player. His playing is great on the album, but John's playing kicks the crap out of him, and Scott's modern playing could probably surpass everything Tavis did on TtRO too.

I've always felt that Andrew was an underrated drummer. Yeah, Ryland can beat the shit out of the drums, but I would honestly put Andrew second behind Carlos. He was a great drummer, both in the studio, and live.

However, Scott's vocals on this album were really just him trying to sound like a harmonized Aaron. Modern Scott>>>"classic" Scott. I would say he's the member of RBF that's improved the most (since Dan's improved quite a bit on trombone, but hasn't developed past that, and Aaron has arguably gotten worse.)

My ideal RBF line-up would be:

Aaron
Scott
Dan
Grant/other second trombone player
Johnny Christmas
Carlos
MATT WONG

Scott hasn't even been playing trumpet at recent shows. Maybe the new album is going back to the two horns-two guitars setup?

I gave a listen to some of the songs from TTRO, and listen closely to Scotts vocals.

You're right. It does sound like a harmonized Aaron. His vocals were so different between The Scholars and first starting Reel Big Fish.

It may have been Scott's Choices to sound like that. I Wouldn't blame him because it would be his first major studio album and I guess he didn't want to fuck it up.
