MemberI’m seeing them on 4th of July, and that lineup sadly includes the Maxies, who I hear weren’t too great on their other tour.
I also don’t really like Big D, but maybe I was listening to the wrong songs. Can anyone recommend me any good Big D songs? I remember not liking “LAX” at all as one of their more well known songs, but maybe I’d like some of their other songs that I missed.
Well, this’ll be my 4th time seeing RBF, and I love SL and I’ll be seeing them for the first time here. Should be fun.

sophie MemberIt took me a long time to get into Big d actually. At first i wasn’t really digging their music either. My ears got used to it I guess 😛 . My favorite songs would be Shining on, Little bitch (specials cover..) Giving it up Souped up vinyl , Noise Complaint and Evil girl/Angry girl

Sonic LibidoMemberIf the release is currently slated for late july, they probably just didn’t manage to finish in time. it’s possible that Rock Ridge is not a very efficient distro. These things take a little time. I’m sure they’d be selling them if they could.

And yeah, that setlist is pretty unspectacular. And short. Did they even play Trendy or SHAGFN?

-
June 18, 2012 at 8:37 pm #28424
Alex
MemberWell, the songs they skipped would’ve spiced it up a little (I’d love to hear Somebody Hates Me, since I’ve never seen them play that live). Hopefully they’ll be able to expand the songs they play a little more once I see them in July as the sole headliner without Goldfinger.
Do you happen to remember what SL/Big D played?
-
June 18, 2012 at 9:03 pm #28425
sophie MemberTo be honest with you…Not so much. But from what ive heard,Big d always changes their setlist so, it’s not too important.I know they played:
Little bitch
Noise complaint
Shinin on
Moden american gypsy

The WindMemberSamu: Was there any reason for skipping songs? Like running late/venue closing?
I don’t know, they did cram five bands into five hours. Doors opened at 6:30, Goldfinger finished by 11:30. I can’t imagine it was because of the venue, though.
And I’m pretty sick of SR by now. Holy balls. They’ve been doing it for almost ten years. -

I’m totally with you on that one.
Rbf isn’t only playing for their hardcore fans that saw them twenty times.
They also gotta think about people who have never seen them play before.Whether your tired of it or not, noone can’t deny that SR have always been one of the best parts of their set.
And Welcome Brian 🙂 !!

ReelBigCohenMemberWe all know Tyler is from and lives in New Haven Conn. He was part of Spring0Heeled Jack U.S.A. who are from there. I am soooo jealous of everyone at that show to see him come back. Although he was really drunk and dumb in the live DVD, he is actually a really great musician. Tyler and John on the trumpet plus Dan on Trombone PLUS Matt on Sax…. amazing hornline that night

Here’s one more video of SHAGFN (Tyler sings the girl part!) and Take On Me from last night. Since SHAGFN is in the encore, it definitely seems like they’re playing more songs when they headline instead of Goldfinger, which wasn’t really the case with Streetlight since they got equal set time and neither band ever did encores. I’m glad Goldfinger’s gone when I see them, in that case. I may have to sit through the Maxies, but it’ll be worth it if RBF plays more new songs.
No full setlists or any other videos of new songs from what I can find, sadly.
-
June 21, 2012 at 7:15 am #28463
Sonic LibidoMembersaw them in Boston tonight. they played all of the hits (sans Don’t Start A Band), enter sandman, setup, good thing, your guts, F.U., kids don’t like it, in the pit, everything sucks, S.R., 241, Trendy, etc.
They also played Punisher. It was glorious.
Beautiful Bodies, Suburban Legends, Big D And The Kids Table, Goldfinger and Reel Big Fish all put on great performances. With personal standouts being Beautiful Bodies and Big D.

I found this online, the setlist for Boston. If they actually played all of those songs, I like it. I didn’t know they separated Good Thing and Your Guts though, did Good Thing still have the trumpet solo?
Also, I didn’t even know there was a 5th band playing, so no wonder RBF’s been cutting its sets short. I don’t think it’s mentioned anywhere besides BB’s website itself. They’re only listed as playing until July 2nd, so I guess I’ll only be seeing 4 bands, unless they pick up another secret band for the 2nd leg of the tour.
-

Gabriel RedondoMemberthat’s nice setlist!
-
June 22, 2012 at 5:25 pm #28466
Sonic LibidoMemberI think BB is playing in place of The Maxies (no fucking argument here). they played acoustic. Their frontwoman is pretty fine and really good at her job. It was entertaining, but I kind of hate double-headline tours. five bands is exhausting.. three is perfect. IMO.
good thing seemed normal, kind of hard to recall whether or not it had a trumpet solo. -

BrianMemberLast night’s Cleveland show was awesome! All the bands were good. As for RBF, they played “Don’t Stop Skankin” and “Punisher” from the new album. Don’t Stop Skankin’ is the instrumental on the album. Sounds good to me. Makes me want the new album even more. “Coming out next year, this July!” in the words of Dan.

Also, I think SL’s been playing first all tour so far, can anyone confirm this? I figure if that ends up happening at the show I’m going to I’ll just stay in the crowd for SL and RBF and hang out in the back to relax during the Maxies and Big D.

It was good! They said they never play it because \”it\’s a terrible song\”. Also, Aaron played backing guitar with Goldfinger.
They used to all love The Fire, including Aaron. I wonder what happened. It sounded fine with only one guitar? Hmm, I’d kind of like to see that, that’s one I’ve never seen live.

MemberWaiting for the Fort Lauderdale concert to start now. I got to meet Aaron and Ryland at the 4th of july meet n greet, and I met both Brians from Suburban Legends as well. I got the live album signed as well as Suburban Legends’ new album. Aaron said they were planning on playing Punisher, so here’s hoping.
The Maxies are playing first, so at least I get that out of the way quickly.

MemberI’m back, and the concert was awesome as usual. Here’s what I can remember in a jumbled order. It was the standard setlist (they played every song that you’d expect them to always play) with a few little goodies thrown in.
The Kids Don’t Like It/In The Pit
Another F.U. Song
I Want Your Girlfriend to Be My Girlfriend
Snoop Dogg, Baby
Everything Sucks
Good Thing
Trendy
Don’t Stop Skankin’
Enter Sandman (watching Dan “forget” the lyrics is much funnier when watching it live)
The Set Up
Brown Eyed Girl
Where Have You Been
The Fire (sounded great with the saxophone, they should start playing this live more often)
Your Guts
Punisher (I was “that guy” as the only one who knew all the words, but it was fantastic)
Ban the Tube Top
S.R.
Beer
Sell Out
She Has A Girlfriend Now
Take On MeOverall, this band never gets old, and I’m glad I had time to learn the new songs before hearing them live. Awesome concert.

July 5, 2012 at 11:31 pm #28830
johnMemberAlex, I was there….and sang every single word of “Punisher”, loved it!!! I stoked a spot at the front when SL started around 6, and held my position at front stage right the whole night throughout the show. It was indeed a life changing experience, my first show. SO awesome.
I got Rylands drum stick as he threw it out at the end of the show! And Johnny Christmas’s autograph on my new RBF shit, and talked with him for a while; he said the reason he kept looking at my cousin the whole show was because she was “the spitting image of my (his) niece” as he said. Really a good guy, showed alot of love to the fans after the show.
Alex, where were you for the “Braveheart Charge” during the Goldfinger set, that was fucking wild!
-

I am talking about the FL show, maybe that wasn’t clear. I’m glad they had the same setlist though, based on what they’ve played this tour I love the song selection they decided on for my show.
And nice work on Ryland’s drumstick. I almost caught his second one, but the guy in front of me ended up with it. The stuff I got signed before the show was more than enough to compensate, though.

MemberFor everyone who’s seen them: Did they do the “Tide is High” joke at any other shows? After one of their songs, Aaron played and sang a little of “The Tide is High” and said he ripped off that song. Unfortunately, I don’t remember what song it was.

Rock it With IMemberGreat show as always. Began the night by running into Aaron at Hooters before the concert. I didn’t do the super fan thing, I left him alone. I said hi but that was it. I’m not concerned with more.
They played PS I Hate you and Don’t stop skankin. My legs are sore from skankin so much. I’m old 🙁
Also, they played Your Guts and they ended it with the song/rip off joke of Tide is High. They also did it after SHAGFN as well.

Rock it With IMemberCorrection: when I say not concerned for more, I mean I have met him and all that and am content with those memories.
Oh and they had the new album on sale. Free with the purchase of their hoodie. I got the hoodie but opted to grab the newer release of the best of us 3 disc set instead (for free :))
Also, not a fan of the Big D band that played… Just wasn’t a fan.

The WindMemberI guess that could be considered an interview. Don’t interviews usually involve the exchange of information, though?
And nice use of old footage. Where’s the saxophone player?

MAX!MemberYeah, I wasn’t too into Big D. I like some of their stuff a good amount, and it was my first time seeing them live. I probably won’t go out of my way to see them live again…
