I also have two songs independently by Scott Klopfenstein: Welcome to New York, and The Hilarious… but I think you can buy those on his site so I did not post them. http://scottklopfenstein.ning.com/

Does anyone want them on the list?

yeah, that's not exactly kosher. I mean, the guy does enough by selling for a buck and streaming for free. if you want to private share, that's okay… but don't put it on the list for lurkers. there's a reason those tracks aren't on the SK rare site.

I know that that's there, but its all tiny and bad resolution. That's the only size I can find anywhere, and a larger scan would be nice

Yeah, I used most of your links… The only new links are things I tried to correct. Like "JFC Sucks… The Early Years" was missing half the tracks, so I replaced it, and so on…

Louder and longer, it's a tribute to this sweet song. If anyone likes it, enjoy. I'm not sure why I bother to do this, but it's fun. So nyeh!

I made this bootleg of RBF playing She Has A Girlfriend Now live when I saw them at warped tour this year.
The reason I would bootleg it is because it features both of the female singers from Tip The Van as well as their trombone player splitting the solo with Dan.

Am I the first person to notice that the Cannibal Demo and Cannibal Dance Mix are the EXACT same thing? The "Demo" is probably just a bootleg of the Dance Mix!? Seriously, did know one else notice?

Maybe, I haven't heard the dance mix. But I do know I first heard the demo in June-ish 2006, so it's not a bootleg.

Well I used an audio editor and made this MP3 to show it to you guys. The left ear plays the Dance Mix and the right ear plays the Demo. They're EXACTLY the same. http://www.mediafire.com/?k47f84obh8c6wpn

Also, was “I’m Her Man” actually of Return of the Mullet? I vaguely remember that it was supposed to be, but was absent from the widespread downloadable version. I poked around before and learned that the ES version was supposedly identical… which led me to patching ROTM with the ES version. But I was wondering… Was it ever even on the demo in the first place?

Damn you, wikipedia! You’ve confused me!!

I just realized that two of the demo tape songs are only partial, although they were cut at times that sound like endings. I found the full versions… “The May Song” and “I Want Your Girlfriend to Be My Girlfriend.”

      I’ll post them, I suppose

By the way, does anyone want Black Casper stuff? And I found two Suburban Rhythm songs that aren’t on their album or this thread… Anybody want them while I’m still in one of my psychotic rarity wrangling episodes?

I keep finding stuff… I’ll just post all of it later today. Some of it should freak you out.
I got some new Save Ferris, Black Casper, Pal, Suburban Rhythm, and, er, I mentioned everything else, I think. By the way, I figured out that “Mmm Bop” is apparently some other band, and not the fish.
      Wow, commas.

Okay, here goes… rarities updates from the top… Links are in bold font.

      General Things:

Snap Crackle Pop Punk: Is it really by RBF? I’m convinced that it isn’t, because after Googleing the hell out of it, all I can find is that MP3 download, which makes me think that it is by another band, and was never featured on a commercial.
Mmm Bop (Live): Is not by Reel Big Fish. There are a few reasons that I think this… First of all, the people sounds nothing like members of RBF, the singer is referred to as “Trey” and there are no horns, or even voices of horn players. Usually when they improvise and goof off, especially for so long, everyone tends to get involved. So this was probably a different band all together. Plus, a youtube user commented on one of my videos that the band had told her it wasn’t them. (The latter I take in with hesitation, but whatever, thought I’d include it).
Cannibal (Demo): I know that this leaked several weeks before the album came out, but I’m convinced that it is just an early, pre-release bootleg of Cannibal (Dance Mix). They sound exactly the same, mixing and all, to me.

      New RBF Stuff
      – The May Song (1992 Demo), Full. Old copy on thread was partial
I Want Your Girlfriend (1994 Demo), Full. Old copy on thread was partial.
Backstage Pass TV Interview and Acoustic Performances Can be found under “Interviews” and “Performances”
Live in Latvia (12-2-2008) (Only 4 songs)

      Black Casper

      Jeffries Fan Club
I Wanna Smack You is not by JFC, as the snowboarding video featuring it claims. It is actually by Regatta 69.

      Littlest Man Band
Leave the Light On (Live on KUCI, Full Song): The version on the released recordings cuts the song off with a static sound effect and then plays the next song. This is the full performance, including some brief banter afterwards.

      The Nuckle Brothers

      Pal

      Suburban Rhythm

      Save Ferris
Live World Cafe (2002) – features 3 unreleased songs
And since Scott’s website is down, I can also add “Welcome to New York” and “The Hilarious,” but its totally up to you guys
    • #27574

      Holy hell!

I for one would love the black casper stuff and scotts songs, welcome to new york was incredible! ooh, and the LMB songs 🙂

I know you can’t tell, but those are links, just click the title of something and it should bring you to mediafire. The only things not on the above list are the Scotty K songs I mentioned at the end.

And for the record, I got that Pal instrumental from their official myspace page, so I’m sure its them. Its been up for over a year and half, and only has 50ish plays, so I recorded it, edited it, and brought it here.

Edit: I changed all the links above to bold font, but its still not very clear

This is the commercial, which I found in less than 30 seconds. I think it sounds enough like them to have never questioned whether or not it was.

The Cannibal demo was released around June 2006, more than a few weeks before Monkeys. It is the demo of the song, and while I haven’t heard them side by side, I assume they prettied up the demo and renamed it Dance Mix. No big deal there.

I was thinking about this today. I can get it fixed, because I still have everything. And then some. Yes, newer stuff even. But before I work on it, I need to know how you guys want it done?

Specifically, is anyone opposed to the use of .zip or .rar files? That would let me share everything via a few links, instead of dozens. And by extension, make it easier to keep the links alive over time. Speaking of which, does anybody have a file-locker preference?

Let me know, and I can get it back up by tomorrow.

I didn’t understand one word of that.

I was hoping to use .rar files, because I can password lock those… and therefore protect them from abduction by floaters. And floaters can expose them to a higher termination risk. But I can do .zip instead if that’s preferred?
For now, I’m going to look at different server sites and find one that doesn’t suck. I wanted to use RapidShare, but they changed their download speed to … like 500 kbps for free users. Maybe Wupload? I used Mediafire last time, but didn’t know that the files will expire if not downloaded for 30 days…
EDIT: Nevermind… Apparently Wupload doesn’t allow uploading anymore.

It looks like most file-hosting sites have added expiration dates to their hosted files since the MegaUpload scare. About 30 to 60 days…

The only one that I’ve found that doesn’t do this is FileDen.com. The files expire, but only if I fail to log in to the hosting account every 60 days. Anybody have ideas? I can’t afford a premium account of any sort.

      Wow, thanks you guys.

@RockitWith I: I’ll pass the word along to my marsupial brethren
I’m not missing very much… I’m not missing any RBF, but there’s some ‘affiliated acts’ things…. Here’s a list of what I know I don’t have:

      – Nuckle Brothers – 1994 – Kickin’ Ass, Gettin’ Loco n’  Drinkin’ Lotsa Nuckle Cocoa
      – I can’t find this anywhere, but I think all of its tracks got reissued on “Music for the New Minuckulum”
      – Do you guys know? I can’t find anything about either release

      – Littlest Man Band – 2004 – Demos and Practices
      – I have “Dreams I Could Have Had,” “The Pact,” and “When You Smile”
      – Were there any other tracks on the demo? I was under the impression that there were, but did they get reissued on “Better Book Ends”

      – Black Casper – 2005 – Remix of Littlest Man Band’s ‘Happened Again’
      – There used to be a download link on the LMB site, but its dead
      – I asked Dan (via Facebook) to upload a copy, and he said “Let me ask Scott, first.” That was 10 months ago.

      – Suburban Rhythm – 1992 – Hose Demo – “Matahari”
      – This is the only song the band has released that didn’t make it to the 97 self-titled compilation.
      – Their MySpace is still active, so I sent them a message requesting a copy.
      – There was also a demo called “The Trojan Tape” which was unreleased. Previously, the MySpace page had some tracks from it posted, but they have since been removed. Luckily, I got copies.
That’s all I’m missing, and I’m not even sure about the first two

\’The Hilarious Past\’ The Best Of Scott Klopfenstein (1999 – 2009) by Scott Klopfenstein (LMB, PAL, RBF, Solo)

Thanks man, but I already have all of it. That is with the assumption that that last entry is a fanmade compilation, which it is, isn’t it? If so, what all did you put on there?

Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything from Demos and Practices. Speaking of which, do you know the track order? And “Dreams I Could Have Had” “The Pact” and “When Yo Smile” are demos, right? I figured they were, but don’t want to mislabel them.

Also, a question for the Forum Admin… Can a writer only edit their most recent post? I’m asking because I planned on updating the new rarities thread whenever necessary, but if that’s the case… then I can’t.

If I made a second account and never posted anything but the rarities thread, then could I keep re-editing over and over? Or is it time based? Need some pointers here.

. No way! 😛 It’s all good. Just flustered that I can’t get the new album yet, so I need other stuff to occupy my time, and shuffle on the entire collection vs my current pieces of a collection, sounds amazing

I found a tracklist for LMB’s Demos and Practices. It was on one of those weird “iTunes contents” pages… Not sure if its accurate or not. You can see it here: http://miles.denness.net/oldstuff/iTunes.htm

It doesn’t have a third or seventh track listed. I’m guessing they were the demos for “Better Man” and “Bad That Its Beautiful.”
Most likely neither was “Happened Again,” because LMB made it available for download on their site just after the Demo CD came out. Alongside it are “Sunshine (Live on KUCI),” “Wrong Bed (Live at Alex’s)” and “Its You (Demo)” http://web.archive.org/web/20031203140746/http://www.thelittlestmanband.com/index2.html
I did notice that Sonic Libido’s “3 More You’ve Never Heard” package lists “Dreams I Could Have Had,” “When You Smile” and “The Pact” with the same track numbers as this iTunes page thingy.

Also, I found out that the CD was released in late 2003, not early 2004. According to the old LMB official Yahoo! page that was around before their website. http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/thelittlestman/message/3
Anyway, there’s nothing new here, just thought I’d share what I found. I was thinking of reconstructing the CD for the rarities thread… but its basically just “Rare Doo-Dee” with the three added tracks. Pretty much all the pre-album stuff, live or otherwise.
01 Leave the Light On (Live on KUCI) [00:04:48]
      02 Dreams I Could Have Had [00:03:19]
04 Stayed Away Too Long (Live on KUCI) [00:03:29]
      05 The Pact [00:06:33]
      06 When You Smile [00:05:16]
      08 It’s You (Live ???) [00:02:51]
09 Always Sayin (Live on KUCI) [00:05:49]
10 Blue For A Day (Live on KUCI) [00:03:51]

Here’s the links to the 3 Reel Big Fish shows I went to. My batteries ran out in Portland, so there’s only part of it. The Vancouver show is the best quality of the three because I wasn’t skanking during it. Also, I forgot to turn off my recorder so there’s some extra bits at the end of me singing sweet caroline, bragging about how I got a pick from Aaron, and getting lost in Seattle haha.
