MemberSo, with only one full month left in the year, can anyone tell me what they think was the best album they heard this year?
Personally, I thought '08 was a much better year for music. There are only a handful of albums that really stood out to me, I mostly ended up playing catch up to stuff I missed in prior years.
The best album this year is the Blue Record by Baroness, IMO. For those who like Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Queen with a dose of fantastic songwriting will love this album. It's simply the best and most creative thing to come out this year.
What did you guys like the best?

The WindMemberGeez, I always forget what came out this year.
But off the top of my head, Phrazes for the Young by Julian Casablancas is rulin'.
I don't think I bought that many new albums this year. Backspacer, Johnstones, The Resistance, Raditude, F,F,&F… I can't think of any more. -

MemberI feel like I should defend my choice, so I will:
Sunny Side Up is easily my favourite album of the year for the pure heart and soul Nutini pours into his music. If you heard his first album and didn't like it, don't make the mistake of thinking you won't like this one. This album is Nutini gone elemental, releasing his creativity. I'm not a music scholar so I won't – or rather can't – go on about the musical styles and influences evident, all I know is that it's great, great music and nothing like anything I ever expected I'd enjoy listening to.

MemberSounds interesting, I'll have to look him up.
This year was not the best for new music, so I'd like to scrounge for some good stuff.

MemberPretty good, Adam.
He has a lot of balls being on a major label and having his first track be this:
–
Some of the b-sides are pretty good too.

MemberHave you heard Pencil Full Of Lead?
That and the song above are currently my favourites from that album. Just don't watch its video – it's terrible. -

MemberYeah, I heard the whole album. Pretty good.
Since I posted a track from that album, I think I'll post one from my pick:
–
I'm not a metal guy at all, but this stuff is good.
