Memberno no, they are using that word "haitus"….
i know shawn is doing a project with the lead singer of an aussie band of something with numbers. i'm really not looking forward to this since something with numbers are shit and i think its like the drummer or something that frequents a punk night club i go to

MemberI almost slammed my head against my desk.
It's always the bands with potential that do this shit. I wanted to see them work with the dude from the Go! Team. I'm sure they would crank out something genius there.

The WindMemberIt's not even like they're retiring. Due to how sudden it all is, I think that Shawn Harris and the guitarist Jon Devoto are tired of each other, and from the sound of Devoto's own music, it sounds like he had a large part in the writing, the guitars at least. So it sounds like they worked really well together, and to follow them individually, it just doesn't seem the same.

MemberIt's probably a combination of things that made them conclude this for now. Getting dropped from their label didn't help.
I think they're gonna take a little break, develop some individual space, regroup thoughts, pursue some personal goals, and come back in a year or 2.

The WindMemberI really like E. Von Dahl. I mean, that made me like them to begin with. It's top tier 90's punk.

MemberI'd put it in middle tier. Upper tier is reserved for bands like Green Day, Smoking Popes, and Screeching Weasel.
But their later stuff is all over the place and much more preferable to me.

Memberlooked up some new stuff. still sucked. NFG/simple plan pop music labeled as punk to fool all the kids who don't know any better.
it's okay guys, you got suckered in. it happens to most everyone….just normally they don't insist that the band "got better" when the sound turned more and more into the NFG happy pop songs.
swimming in the main stream is such a lame, lame dream.

MemberI like The Matches alot….and they may sound shitty to Jon, but most everything does anyways so there's no surprise in that.
Music in a way is like food. What tastes good to one person, may taste bad to another. You don't get suckered into food, just like you don't get suckered into music either. It's a preference to sound/ style and not everyone likes the same thing.
If for any reason that would make me uncool, then so be it, but at least I'm not a poser.

[/quote1247628350]Of course marketing works and people can get suckered in by commercials and peer pressure and such. But, I think what Amy is referring to, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong (or say no duh if you are being sarcastic), is individual tastes for foods like onions, green beans, liver, etc. I didn't get suckered into liking tomatoes any more than my sister got suckered into hating them. I would hope my sister wouldn't ridicule me for liking them. Music is the same way.

[/quote1247637512]gay guys get suckered into liking women through peer pressure. some of them even have kids while being in the closet.
music is entirely subjective but when i think of something on epitaph and something that i know is being marketed and labeled as punk, i expect punk. even if it's minutemen style punk…still punk. not crappy mtv pop tunes…and while there may be no accounting for taste: elton john's candle in the wind sold millions upon millions of records and the people who bought that shit got suckered into buying mediocre crap. they just don't know any better….which is a common theme with the vast majority of humans, i'm noticing…..though i'm also noticing they'd rather not think and let others do their thinking for them.
and yes, i'm realizing how weird it is that i'm talking about humans from a third party perspective…..i'd rather not associate with such people and try to strive to be better than that….at least in being aware of the reality of my surroundings.

unfortunately there's the combined effects of: milgram experiment, ache conformity experiments, and stanford prison experiments.
which the first two are fairly easily achieved since everyone consumes the same media or interacts with others whose opinion influences theirs who consumes the questionable media.

[/quote1248116926]eh, i dunno if you can directly blame them for it. maybe all the cell phone deaths…but that's a necessary evil because how else will they track everyone and tap into everyone's phone lines so easily? i know i've had my calls tapped a couple times. even had one call terminated on me (neither me or my friend were in dead/drop zones).

The WindMemberAnyone get it?
I'm thinking that about half the album was mean for the abandoned third album, The Mad Silentist, judging by the sound and when the songs were recorded. I'm not so upset that they trashed that idea in favour of A Band In Hope. They aren't bad songs, but they're not as good as the Hope songs. But they three new demo songs, recorded earlier this year…
Now I'm pissed they didn't do THAT album.
