Memberim in the mood for sharing
anyway
on saturday night i went and saw fall out boy with all american rejects and hey monday. im not really the biggest fan of any of those bands, just scored the ticket because my friend's fiance couldnt make it. but suprisingly all the bands were entertaining and fall out boy had fireworks
next up. on sunday i went to this festival called soundwave. my day consisted of seeing these bands in order:
less than jake – played pretty decent, more of a punk set rather than a ska set
goldfinger – played alright. could of been better. but was a decent mix of stuff with fuck all off their shit albums
unearth – watched like 3 songs than left. fucking terrible. my mate said they were fun live. but fuck them
attack in black – they were alright. i had never heard them and had heard good things
hellogoodbye – i was watching from the drinking area. but they were decent
dillinger escape plan – im not the biggest fan, but they were pretty decent live. very talented
bloodhound gang – fun as. they had the whole crowd in the palm of their hand. played a decent mix
new found glory – basically avoided playing anything off coming home which is a very good thing. was a bit dissapointed they didnt play anything off tip of the iceberg. but i was pleased later on anyway
alkaline trio – played like 1 song off agony and irony and like 1 from crimson, rest was all older stuff which was awesome
bedouin soundclash – fucking brilliant
international superheroes of hardcore – so this is new found glory but with the guitarist singing and the singer playing guitar. playing good hardcore. halfway through the set they swapped over again and played tip of the iceberg songs. so good
and that was my sunday.
next up
monday. i went and saw bloodhound gang with less than jake and interpartysystem
we got there halfway through interpartysystem. they were alright, i only knew one song by them, and they played it at the end luckily
next up was less than jake. they played a punk set again. but fun as usual
next was bloodhound gang. great again, but better. the bassist beer bonged a whole bottle of jagermeister. and they had a projection screen behind them with filthy and funny pictures relating back to the songs. they seemed very upto date with aussie current affairs too
next night i went and saw new found glory with hellogoodbye and ace enders and some other band
we got there just before hellogoodbye came on. they played great
next up was new found glory. i had alot of fun. i did nearly get into a fight with some guy in a basketball jersey though…
now lastnight. i went to see goldfinger with valencia and riverboat gamblers. when i got there. i found out mike herrera from mxpx was doing his solo stuff aswell. i got pretty excited. anyway i got pretty drunk too. i ended up meeting mike herrera. he was so nice.
anyway mike herrera played pretty well. i dont really like his tumbledown stuff though.
riverboat gamblers were heaps good too. i was outside during valencia
goldfinger played the best ive seen them. good setlist and such. i even got up on stage during mable. darren had the usual twinky arse eating thing. but he also drank a beer from someones shoe.
also the crowd was so good. no arseholes at all
and now today im buggered

MemberGoldfinger played none of their shitty songs? They're almost back.
The last album was a solid step in the right direction (despite half of it being shitty and forgettable with his usual terrible lyrics) and now to hear they aren't playing the shit anymore is awesome.

The WindMemberRetracted. You're right. There were a few good songs. Get Up is good.
Taking the best of both albums and putting them into one… that would be a good album.

The WindMemberYou know, some parts of songs off of Hello Destiny are recycled from Disconnection Notice.

MemberI don't even understand what they were trying to do on Disconnection Notice. They were claiming it was going to be so experimental, yet it was so generic. Anyone remember the lyrics to 'Iron Fist'? Ugh.
John SUCKS at anything except poppy "I love you" lyrics. I thought he might have realized that on the new album, and they almost did. Other than 'Get Up' (which is actually a bit vague on it's topic, which is surprising given the writer) the best songs (and the only memorable ones) are the "classic" style ones.
Just as they have been since 'Open Your Eyes' came out. Or Stomping Ground, when the band tried (for some reason) to be something they're not.
They're a pop band. They're not capable of being anything else.

The WindMemberIt's a shame Iron Fist has such SSSSTUPID lyrics, because I like the music. Same with Behind The Mask.

MemberBehind The Mask's lyrics aren't even that bad, if it wasn't for the stupid spoken word parts.

MemberI just listened to Hello Destiny for the first time in a while, and it's… A mixed bag.
What it really proves to me is that the band isn't as good as they think they are.
Only One More Time, Get Up, Goodbye, If I'm Not Right, How Do You Do It, Not Amused, and Smile (a bonus track for some reason) should have made the cut for the album. The rest are either bland as hell, or are just embarrassing.
