I like being at the shows when they film. RBF do good live anyways, but when they are being filmed you know they are operating at 150%. This will be the second filming I'll have been at.

Great. Another load of Beer, Take on Me, Sell Out and SHAGFN live MP3 rips.

Seriously? 3 DVD's? Talk about overkill.

It will take a LOT to top the last one. I wish they'd wait a few more albums before releasing another one.

It's not like he's wrong, guys.

They don't have enough newer material to make it different enough from the last one.

I think I'm siding with Rikk – if they do a DVD every year (or every other year) it will lose that kind of "special thing" allure.

I wish they'd do a clip with some footage from a concert (3 or 4 songs, with some new ones in it) and more talking about the band, life, the universe, and everything.

You may disagree with me, but for a band who seemed so happy to be off their label, you'd think they'd focused on releasing their first proper independent studio album. I'm in no way saying the live album wasn't great, it really was, but their live show is still pretty similar, features pretty much the same set (give or take a few) and the same 'skits' and bits. Even Aaron said on the Live DVD that 'the kids don't want another DVD'.

And since then we've also had (IMHO) a mixed quality B-sides ish album and a cover album.

I just want a studio album full of well written, solid songs. No gimmicks.

WAAAAAAY too early for another DVD.

I think they've only been to Australia once since the last one- Surely they can't be *that* different to the last time i saw them?

£5 says there's only about 4 tracks from these new albums…

EDIT: I realise I'm being a pessimistic bastard about this. So fuck it, i'm sure it'll be a laugh. I'd just rather they spent the time and money on a better new album.

Why not film a show somewhere besides California? I'm not against a new dvd, the second one sort of sucked. Plus this may be an easy way for them to make money now that they're independent. They have to pay the bills somehow.

      We're number 87!!!!

But no, they did NOT play better on the 2nd dvd. They re-recorded most the tracks to make it sound better. The first dvd was straight up with no over dubs and only messed up a few times. Plus the first dvd commentary was so much better.

I have to agree actually. The fact that they were so open about the amount of overdubs they did was a bit weird. Much of it wasn't quite so live and it was just a little too polished.

The first DVD, while the performance maybe not so tight, had a hilarious commentary and was more memorable for me. Had some more obscure songs too (Down in Flames, Scott's A Dork etc) and the banter between Aaron and Scott was hilarious.

    • #19718

Yeah, I agree. The second one was way better. I wanted to jump through my TV and kick Tyler's ass. Er, pay someone to kick Tyler's ass.

      Down In Flames is obscure?

Normally overdubs would bother me, but in this case it doesn't because the material shines through. The problem with the first DVD was that the playing did not let the songs shine through, and tended to hamper them.

While there were funny moments and the commentary was quite good, it's not something I pop in very often.

The second one is probably the ultimate RBF experience. Almost every song you'd want to hear in great quality.

Edit: I guarantee the new one won't have the instrumentals, Cannibal or Slow Down, so it's not something I'd care to go for.

If someone can tell me how different this DVD will be from the last two and make it sound convincing, I'll change my tune.

Well, i've seen RBF 5 times and i've yet to see Down In Flames, one of my favourite songs. As far as I know, it's not a song they play that often live.

btw, a little unrelated…. but I hope the RBF setlist for their final show looks like this:
      You Don't Know
      Angry Anthem
      Hate You
      Another FU song
      All I Want Is More
      Somebody Loved Me
      Go Away
      Everything Sucks
      Drinkin'
      Don't Start A Band
      One Hit Wonderful
      The Joke's On Me
      Say Goodbye
      Down In Flames
      Worst Day
      Maybe I'm Wrong
      Nothin'
      Your Guts
      Last Show

I have to say, I'm excited to see a Recorded DVD version of SHAGFuN with the Tip The Van Ladies (and the dueling trombone solo.)

It might even top Rachel's version…. sorry, I love Rachel's voice…. but there's something about two girls singing a song about girl/girl relationships that just seems to work…

plus, they've both got awesome voices.

It seems as if the setlist for America seems to be quite different for Europe/Canada. Just like Victory Over Peter Bones, the only vids for it on youtube I've found were from performances in Europe.

Any Date given yet for the DVD release?
