The WindMemberThe days of the iconboard are long gone. I do miss those times. What a nice little community we had there, unlike anything I’ve come across since. It disappoints me to have seen it fizzle out after so many good years. Even when it moved here it was still fairly strong, but after a while, people stopped coming, this board got a lot of technical issues, the band got pretty stale and is a shadow of its former self…
It was so active, where I could check it four or five times a day and see dozens, scores of new posts. We’d argue from time to time, call each other names over silly subjects, serious matters, but in the end of the day I got the feeling the core posters really liked and cared for each other. It was the only good e-community I’ve been a part of.
So I pour onto the curb for our barren e-home, our ethereal meeting place. While I may still come by here from time to time, the end has come and gone, and what’s left is mere echoes of a once active, loving and inviting community.Hey do you remember when that girl Treylana pretended to try to kill herself and posted as her sister? Then the board called her out and laughed her out of the community?

SamuMemberWow, that’s moving. I do miss the old community. Back in those days we would use the Board to discuss about anything, from politics to sports and our personal stuff.
Losing the link to the official band site and the band’s decline itself badly injured this place, then the social networks killed it.I don’t remember that girl, maybe it happened before I joined.
But I remember someone giving out Karen’s college address jokingly presenting her as a source for signed RBF setlists, people actually taking it seriously and her getting really mad at the first guy. -

jrock241MemberVery poetic. So many good times… But the bad times were just as fun.
I think that girl Treylana faking here death happened right before I joined but I remember reading the old posts when her “sister” was on there.
That’s hilarious about Karen’s address, I wish you remembered who gave it out.
Let’s see what else stands out in my mind. Getting random updates on Jon leaving New Orleans before the Hurricane destroyed the city. I remember the Aquabats forum members trolling us, I think Chris and some other people retaliated. Didn’t Chris eat a bunch of laxatives or something once? That may have been before he left the military. Staying up late to hear/watch RBF on DJRossStar’s radio show and Tom Green’s home show. It’s a shame that this board isn’t linked to RBF’s site. Twitter and Facebook doesn’t connect the people into a community like a message board does. Anyways, I’m glad there are still the few people who still post here!

MAX!MemberI joined right after the djcheddar stuff and loved catching up on all those threads to get the inside joke. Also whoever posted the screen shot of him in the Limp Bizkit (I think) video.
That and winning LOTM in one of my first months on the board 😀

The WindMemberWe don’t even have avatars anymore. That was the primary way I identified people. I want Protoman back.
Poor chedd. He just kept pushing the wrong buttons and got his dickhole smashed in the process.

The WindMemberI remember that whenever Max would make a post, the first response from anybody was usually a picture of him with his mouth gaping, face covered in blue and yellow paint, and “COCK GOES HERE” in red text on the image pointing to his mouth.

SamuMember😀
poor Max. PWND.
I remember when a bunch of friends of mine made a fake female account to trick me into liking her. They lost any interest in the thing in less than a week.I think we are kind of the elitits of this board.

The WindMemberDuh.
PS did anyone ever figure out who was pretending to be “Seth”? -
May 14, 2014 at 4:15 am #29474
jrock241Member“Seth”, I vaguely remember that. JD improving album track lists, he was so good at that. The nazi birthday cake – I never knew what started that and wasn’t a huge fan of it. Going through the old Gen-Chat post made me realize trolling actually kept this place alive.
Does anybody remember when they joined the old RBF forum? I believe it was April 2004 for me. 10 years ago, that’s crazy. When did it shut down? 2007 or 08? The old board felt like way more than 3 years of my life.
How does Madamadam have an avatar still?

The WindMemberI joined Oct. 2003. It was good until mid-2007, then the adbots spammed it to death.
Somebody made the account “RockItWithI” (I THINK it’s that one) and came on here posting, saying he was Seth. Gave us a bunch of personal stories, posted pictures of “himself”, started flirting with one of the girls, then came out as an impostor. Wouldn’t even say who he or she really was.

ReelBigCohenMemberI joined the old board sometime around May 2005. Feels like such a damn long time ago.

jrock241MemberI can’t even remember the old “elitist” members names who mostly hung out in the Disco Aaron topic. Anybody remember?
The mystery of Rock It With I… we may never know who it was. Just like Darrinpa…

SamuMemberRandomness: yesterday Blue Eagle posted on the long time defunct facebook group “RBF board members that are cool”
Has anybody ever read the “Oh the anguish!” carpooling thread?
-
May 29, 2014 at 1:28 am #29484
The WindMemberYeah that’s a weird coincidence.
Regale us about the carpool thread.
I also have those questions from the old Iconboard that someone took to dinner with Aaron and Dan, and they were nice enough to scribble pictures of Tavis being murdered all over them. I’ll try to upload.
-
May 30, 2014 at 4:52 am #29487
jrock241MemberYou still have those? Nice! I forgot all about that until now.
Didn’t the “Oh the anguish” thread start off as a normal post about somebody needing a ride and then snowballed into… I can’t remember. Did the elitist take it over?
A little off topic, but it is old skool, somebody posted an old No Doubt form letter that they’d send out to their fans [before they were famous] and it included insulting RBF.
I hope this works, links here are strange.
https://twitter.com/TomDumontND/status/441805493585985536Basically it says “Busy working on new t-shirt designs for Reel Big Fish to rip off.”
No Doubt sucks.

AdminKeymasterGlad you guys are still around, I check in every now and again but work and travelling has taken me away from being able to do anything here. Not even seen RBF for about 3 years as they always head to the UK when I’m in the US.
What would you say if I just moved everything over to a simple forum with all the old posts and just links off to reel-big-fish.com for things like Tour Dates/Videos/News?

johnMemberIs there anyway to get Aaron to release the studio version of “So Much For Rock and Roll”?
I heard it was a B side off ‘Why do they Rock So Hard” In my opinion, it should have been an A side.
WDTRSH was recorded well, and I would do almost anything to hear the studio version of this song. I know it was with JIVE, but Aaron owns these songs now, he CAN re-record them.
Dear Aaron, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE re-record “So Much For Rock and Roll” like you re-recorded all those other sweet songs for the Best of us for the rest of us Album.
PLEASE!
We will buy in mass!

June 17, 2014 at 1:05 am #29498
The WindMemberDon’t hijack the thread newbie!
Where did you hear it was a b-side? I always assumed it was a new song they started doing live. Although I did also hear AB say that he wrote 90% of their catalog between 95 and 97.

June 17, 2014 at 3:39 am #29499
jrock241MemberPerhaps he has confused So Much For Rock & Roll with the song ‘Turn The Radio Off’. TTRO song was written for the album Why Do They Rock So Hard. I’m not saying that it couldn’t have been written during that time, as The Wind mentioned Aaron did write a lot of material during those years. But saying it’s a b-side, probably isn’t correct because it wasn’t recorded back then.
I personally never heard SM4R&R was a B-side. In fact, Aaron confirms it pretty much is a studio version, and not a live besides drums and bass, on that album.
Interviewer – “Have you recorded a studio version for SM4R&R?”
Aaron – “Yeah, it’s on the live album. It’s Fake.”As for the future of this website’s forum, whatever is easiest for you to do. We appreciate you keeping this board going and all the work you put into this site. As long as there still is a forum, I’m sure we’ll be happy.

AdminKeymasterI joined just before its death and tried to bring as many people here as possible. No easy task!
Sad this place has fizzled out.

AdminKeymasterJust realised signup has been off on the site. Not sure for how long either.
Reel Big Fish just retweeted a link to this dusty place. Maybe that’ll liven things up a little. Perhaps.
