MemberThe criticisms are valid (some of the lyrical content is way too immature, even for a guy that wrote “Ban the Tube Top;” some of the songs are much longer than they need to be; “Hiding in My Headphones” may indeed be the worst song they’ve ever done [but to compare it to “Another F.U. Song” in a review that appreciates their short joke songs?]), but mentioning Scott’s departure is kind of unnecessary considering he really hadn’t been an integral part of the creative process since We’re Not Happy, and one star? “A new low?” This album is far and above Monkeys. The reviewer admits he’s a fan of Reel Big Fish, and he likely didn’t give this album the proper attention it needed. It seems like a lazy, one-or-two listen review.
I’m not saying the album’s great or anything, but it’s a standard Reel Big Fish album, for better or (in my opinion) worse. It’s not shit. It’s annoying that people tell them to call it quits; clearly they have a significant fanbase that enjoys their music and live show…let those people enjoy it and just stop giving them your own personal attention. I’ve been thinking of doing that myself, honestly.

MemberIt makes me sad to see these kinds of reviews. Honestly, I understand how people can be getting sick of the same old RBF sound (even though I obviously don’t feel that way at all) but to say that it’s of such significantly lower quality than their past releases and to give it one star is ridiculous. It’s definitely an album of relatively consistent quality with their past work, and even though I don’t know yet where I’d rank it with the other albums, I definitely at least like it better than WDTRSH and Monkeys (and I love WDTRSH and Monkeys). I may or may not be a “blind fanboy”, but Punisher, P.S. I Hate You, and IDYTBMH, at least, are honestly up there for me with the best songs RBF has ever done.
He’s right about Hiding in My Headphones, though. It’s the only song I skip when listening through CCF, but the rest of them are solid.

Sonic LibidoMemberPunknews also gave Wasting Light by Foo Fighters one star. Their reviews are often far from objective.

MemberI love Hiding In My Headphones. It’s different but it grows on you. Like I’ve said before, it’s 2012’s “Song #3”

SamuMemberWell now don’t push it too far… if you remove lyrics from HIMH you don’t get the sweetness of Sleep all day.

The WindMemberThat is a pretty hateful review that didn’t even manage to address the album’s major weaknesses, aside from the horribly immature and forceful lyrical content.
