I'm just saying I don't understand why people would want to live in an area that keeps getting destroyed by nature. There's a reason people don't live in extreme climates. They're uninhabitable. It's not with the expense and the hassle to keep having to rebuild a city that will inevitably be torn apart again.

people live in the area because it's their home. i can understand you having no pride in that since you're from this wasteland where there is no real culture other than a fast food/junk food culture but it's a little different where there is an actual identity.

and what the fuck are you talking keep? it was one hurricane. the last major before that was back in 1965 or so with betsy (camille is the popular example but it didn't effect the city as extensively as betsy did).

this hurricane appears to have been media hype and just proof of how little the local government has been doing to ensure the public's safety. preventative measures can be done in terms of building the infrastructure better. it's like saying that because buildings failed in the 1970s in stronger earthquakes that no one should inhabit southern california and that it's a waste of money to keep rebuilding (and let's not forget all the fires too..why the hell is anyone living in this shithole, anyways?)). it's a matter of making the infrastructure up to date and it wasn't before katrina and it still isn't now.

now if you wanna be evenhanded about this, i wanna see you talking the same shit on this area. pull the plug on syphoning water from other states and let this desert become a desert. let the fires consume the land and let the earthquakes shake the buildings to the ground.

I agree. I have no idea why people live in burn areas and mudslide areas. When the La Conchita mudslide happened, there was a benefit concert for them by the Mad Caddies. I wanted to go, but I didn't want to pay for it. Luckily I got in free.

The reason I'm still in CA is because I haven't had the opportunity to leave yet, but as soon as I can, I plan to.
