MemberI'm NOT voting for Obama. I promise you that. On the flip side, I hope he wins, fucks up the U.S. and puts us in worse shape, so all the fucking hippie liberals put their foot in their mouths and realize that talking about change gets you absolutely no results.

[/quote1219002583]what's this we shit, you got a job all of a sudden, skippy?
fuck taxes. cuting taxes and cutting spending is what needs to be done. a lot of spending needs to be cut. like farm subsidies. give that shit the ax. iraq can't just get axed (sadly) but it should be axed as quickly and as smoothly as possible and iraq has been asking for autonomy so something could be worked out. afghanistan needs to be refocused and done right (since they're the country that actually needs the troops and needs the help right now).

Cutting spending should be the number one focus. The war, immigration, bullshit programs (planned parenthood, for example), foreign oil… The list goes on.

MemberThey're both politicians which makes them liars, whether they want to be or not. They can tell the nation anything they want pre-election, and they may actually believe they can do it. But once they become president, there are too many other people (advisors?) telling them that it can't be done. I'm just so disenchanted right now with this election, it's the first time since I turned 18 that I'm actually thinking of abstaining on my vote for president.

[/quote1219056947]quoted for truth. as i previously stated, i'm throwing my vote away because i think it's funny, but in a sick way i'm hoping obama wins, simply because i want to see an assassination before i die.

MemberIf you make under $150,000 a year (which I'm guessing most people in this forum do) you will actually get a tax cut under Obama. I'm not saying he's the perfect candidate, I just wanted to correct that OMG DEMOCRATS ARE ALL FLIP FLOPPING, TAX RAISING, SURRENDER TO TERRORIST-ERS attitude. The fact is that both candidates for president (as they have been in pretty much every election since the start of this country) are less than ideal. That is never going to change. Get used to it.

MemberSo, people who are successful in life and have paved themselves the way to make over $150,000 a year( via education, entrepreneur, etc. ) should be punished for being successful, just so you can catch up?

MemberWell actually if you make between 150,000 and 250,000 the tax rate stays the same as it is currently. The rate raises only if you make over $250,000, but to answer your question, yes. That small percentage of Americans who makes over $250,000 control the vast majority of money in the country. I'm sorry, but if you make over $250,000 a year, chances are raising taxes isn't going to drive you into bankruptcy. It's not a punishment. The people who control the majority of money in this country should be responsible for the majority of the tax burden.
-edit- for clarity.

[/quote1219112115]people who make my level of money account for an extreme minority of the tax burden in terms of money going in but is a hard tax burden for what money i make. when you make $25000 and $7000 of it is going to taxes, that's way more impactful than someone making $150,000 and $50,000 of it going to taxes…but here i am with a ton of my money going to state and federal taxes even though it really doesn't account for shit in the big picture.
