Sorry, nobody had mentioned that. If I was John Madden I'd need a Frank Caliendo.

Also, if your team has a lot of hits and home runs, and has a good batting average, you are more likely to score more runs.

Oh poor baby! !lol Schilling (when healthy) plays every 5th day and Big Papi is the DH. I could list the myriad of injuries the Angels had during the ALDS last year, but I'm not one to make excuses. Every team has injuries and big hitters in slumps (i.e. John Lackey, Kelvim Escobar, and Vlad Guerrero circa April/May just to name a few) at some point in the season. Kelvim Escobar won't play a game this year and he won 18 last year. But our other pitchers picked up the slack.

That being said, I do agree that it IS only July. Winning 5 of 6 so far from the reigning World Series champs, having an 8 1/2 game lead in our division, and being the first team to 60 wins has to give us a little confidence boost though going into a TOUGH road trip next week. 3 in Baltimore, 3 in Fenway, 4 in Yankee Stadium. Then we come home just to play Baltimore and the Yankees again! YIKES! :O We better bring our A game!

Donkey punch is a slang term for an apocryphal and potentially lethal sexual practice supposedly performed during anal sex. The purported practice involves the penetrating partner punching the receiving partner in the back of the head or neck, allegedly causing the receiving partner's anal passage to tense up and increase the pleasure of the penetrating partner.

OK I'm watching SportsCenter right now. They just said "It looks like the Yankees may not ever lose at home." Apparantly they haven't lost at home since July 4th, the longest streak in 10 years. Their pitchers have a 1.83 ERA in the last 6 games. OK, now I'm extra concerned about going into Yankee Stadium! Teixiera is an awesome hitter, and the Angels need that. He's also good defense too, but it's hard to see if he can measure up to Kotchman on 1st base defense. I know one thing's for sure…he's gonna bring in alot of runs! Red Sox are gonna be all confused now when they play against the Angels. It's gonna completely mess with their strategy.

I still think the Red Sox have a chance this year. The Angels are the team to beat now though. Here's a loose outline of my power ratings in terms of likeliness to win the world series.

1. Angels (kicking ass in the AL, got Tiexeira)
2. Cubs (kicking ass in NL)
3. Brewers (pitching)
4. Red Sox (clutch in playoffs)
5. Yankees (clutch in playoffs not played this century)
6. Phillies (leading NL east)
7. Mets (2nd in NL east, catching up again, lots of money)
8. White Sox (playing good but seemingly not getting too much attention)
9. Twins (catching up on the white sox)
10. Cardinals (3rd best team in NL…but also 3rd in their division [NL central kicks ass])
11. Dodgers (2nd in NL west, made some trade)
12. Diamondbacks (1st in NL west…the worst division in baseball [7th in the NL])

This just in from mlb.com:

"Manny Ramirez is going to the Dodgers.

The Red Sox, Dodgers and Pirates have agreed to a deal in which Ramirez will go to Los Angeles, outfielder Jason Bay will go from Pittsburgh to Boston and the Pirates will receive pitchers Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen from the Red Sox and third baseman Andy LaRoche and outfielder Bryan Morris from the Dodgers.

The Pirates have called a 5:30 p.m. ET press conference."

Holy Shit!!! :O I guess the Marlins couldn't make the 3 team deal work, so the Dodgers stepped in. This ought to be interesting! Well, Jon, at least you'll have a chance to see Manny play in person now!

So he hit a home run tonight. We missed it though because we were late. And when we got there we got in trouble because we were tying to bring in some booze and they found it. They were gonna throw us all out, but one of the guys claims full responsibility, and the security guard was actually really cool about it, so he just said my friend couldn't go in but we could. But as soon as we walked in we were like, "this ain't right," so we all bailed and went to Hooters instead. And that ended up being bad ass because the hottest waitress there got all handsy with me. Then we filmed a webisode.

So, even though we didn't get into the game, it was still a really fun night, and the Dodgers still won.

And that Sox/Texas game was crazy!! Up 10-0 in the first? Then to fall behind, only to come back and win? You don't see games like that very often! !lol
[/quote1218675903]

nah, was working overtime and thought it was very odd that the mariners seemed to have such a decent lead on a good team.

was definitely watching the end of the sox/faggots game. was cheering all the way at the end with youkilis hitting that HR at the end and the double before that put (i think) pedroia home.

PISSED!!!! That is all.

EDIT- Well, my man Juan came through in the 8th with a bases loaded double. Salvaged tonight, but recently…well, my original post says it all!

all i wanna say is: i hope manny ramirez gets hit in the face with a 90mph fastball.

he didn't have to play along with what his manager wanted him to do with faking how hurt he was and faking the attitude and basically being a huge disruption and noise because he wanted to secure another 100+ mil contract.

he may not have masterminded the garbage but he certainly played his role eagerly enough.

scott boras should be made to bite the curb.

HELL, YEAH! Angels clinch the AL West!! Kind of bummed only because I was at the games on Monday and Tuesday night, but today was a day game and that damn thing called work got in the way. And now Boston/TB are in extra innings, delaying the start of Baseball Tonight. I want to see the celebration!!! !lol

So I missed the clinching game, but I was at the game where Frankie Rodriguez broke the all-time save record. It was incredible. Besides a playoff game, I've never been in the stadium when it's been that electric. Flash bulbs going off everywhere on every pitch. The entire stadium on their feet chanting. The celebration afterward. Awesome!

The best part is that my 12-year-old nephew and I were on TV! I had made a sign and they showed the sign 4 times, but us holding it only twice. My sister TiVo'd it so my nephew could show his friends.

And Jon, looks like it's shaping up to be Angels/Red Sox in the first round. What do you think? (Well, I know what you think, but how do you think we match up?) Anyone else want to discuss playoff baseball? I can't wait!

It's always awesome to be in attendance to see a record broken.

I remember a couple years ago when Ichiro broke the hit record. The Mariners were terrible that year but it was still packed the last few games to see him hit and Edgar Martinez retire. I sure do miss Edgar.

Also, I was there when the Mariners won their 116th game in 2001, the first game at Safeco Field, the Home Run Derby and All Star Game in 2001 and a lot of other great moments. I really wish I was old enough to go to the games in 1995. Must have been a fun year to be an Angels fan :p

Oh, oops. I don't knnow about that. I didn't really get into baseball until after I graduated from college. My dad always hated it so I never grew up watching it. I did go several Angel games in high school though. When I moved back to the O.C. after college, I had a boyfriend who was a huge Angel fan. He got me hooked and I've been a fan ever since.

What Jon, no smack talk? With the ALDS starting tomorrow? I'm not a smack talker, but I really hope we are 2-0 when we go to Boston! Lackey concerns me, but Santana and Saunders are solid, I think! !lol

With the Yankees out, I have to say I'm siding with Jeanie in the Boston/LAA series, but anyone following Dodgers/Cubs? How 'bout Torre and Manny?

And Jon, don't worry, the complicated set of circumstances that involved me being a Yankees fan in Boston doesn't extend to any other sports 😛

• #18018

manny should get a 90mph fastball to the face for that garbage he did to get the trade.

yeah….except the games that manny cost the sox by being a disruption to the dugout and poor play at bat.

oh well, the sox are winning now and now's when it counts.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Pretty pathetic display by the Angels! It still stings a bit, but I'll get over it. But, when you leave more than 40 men on base in four games, you're not going to do too well. We'll see who we keep and who we lose with all our free agents!

So now I say Go Rays! Sorry Jon, but you have to understand my frustration with the damn Red Sox! !sad That, and I'm sure Max is dreaming up ridiculous sigs for me right now! !lol
