Reel Big Summer

The summer is here, which means only one thing for Reel Big Fish – plenty of days playing in the sun and enjoying the fun. The group is heading off for another season of The Vans Warped Tour, while promoting their latest album, “Monkeys For Nothin’ And The Chimps For Free.” Singer Aaron Barrett says, “We can’t wait to get back out on tour and get our hands dirty, and since it’s the Warped Tour, probably everything else dirty too. Oh, and playing music will be fun as well.” The trek gets underway June 20th in Pomona, California, but at present the boys are currently in the studio working on a top secret project of epic proportions and hoping to have it ready by the time touring takes over their lives.

I heard they are re-recording all songs rleased under the Jive record label as they currently don't have any rights to them songs. If they re-record them they get rights to the new recordings. Not ideal but least they have rights to something.

This could be the same 'project' or totally different. 😛

That would be good for them, but I hope it's new stuff.

I say make a boxset of the Jive songs and sell them in a giant box for the hardcore fans and disc by disc for the casuals.

With an additional ep for the remaining ES songs, of course. 😉

Well I hope its new too, but if they get the opportunity to fuck over Jive I say 'Go for it guys!'

I hope they record Beer again, THIS TIME with the rock and roll scream intro they used to do live. I can't believe they didn't add that to their Not Happy version.

I hope they redo every song on TTRO to get rid of the snare sound I hate so much. :p

No, not really. If it did, I wouldn't listen to it.

That would be really cool if they re-did their stuff because I'd love to hear how it improved.
But I think I'd rather have a new album.

Agreed.

I'm not sure I would want re-recorded versions of older songs.

Each album seems to be getting less energetic as they get older. I'd personally like to see something more different and interesting.

Well, the Monkey versions were more energetic than the ES ones.

I just want Spin The Globe and Superhero #5, really.

But not Fo'Head? I really like Fo'Head.

And they may as well do Jig. A good version, just for completion's sake.

Oh yeah, Fo Head and the demo version of Jig (studio'd) would be welcome.

Well, all the songs were slowed down a fair bit. I guess i'm missing more of that youthful young band energy.

Hopefully a new album will suprise us with something different.

The whole time my band has been recording our new song I've been thinking "I hope JD will approve of the snare drum sound", I'm not even joking. Once I get a rough cut I'll send it to you and relay your thoughts back to the engineer.

LOL. I'm pretty sure it'll be fine, that snare sound isn't used too often anymore.

For the best snare sound, just go for 70s ska.
