OK, so I have Jury Duty this week. In L.A. county what that means is you call in every night after 7 pm for a week to find out if you have to report the next morning. One of my best friends is a prosecutor, and she has convinced me that jury duty is my civic duty, but damn this is inconvenient! I didn't have to report today, and I just called to see if I have to report tomorrow. I don't have to, so now I have to call again tomorrow night to see if I have to report Wednesday. My schedule this week is so messed up because of it. There has to be a better way!

..after 7 pm? Wow, over here ANY public office is closed by that time.
What's jury duty anyway? Do you get to be in the jury in a trial?

That's exactly what it means. I think it would be quite cool to do as a one time thing – provided you don't get cast with a bunch of cunts.

I'd point out that it's actually spelled "Wright", but nobody likes a pedant…

I don't report tomorrow, so I have to call in again Thursday night! And yes, this is to see if I will serve on a jury.

I don't know about all of the USA, but in CA, you can be called once a year. The last three times I've been called and reported, I was sent home at lunch because my cases settled. The rule is you only have to be available for a week. So if I call in tomorrow night and they don't need me Friday, I'm off the hook for a year.

And Samu, it's a recorded message, no one is there after 7pm! !lol

I've never had to serve, but I've had to go down there and wait all damn day for nothing. One time I never even got my notice and found out I had a bench warrant out for my arrest for not appearing. California doesn't fuck around.

So tonight was the last night I had to call in. I don't have to report tomorrow, so my "jury service" is over for a year. Yay! I was kind of held hostage by the process all week, but at least I didn't have to sit in a courthouse all day, just to be sent home without serving.
