Yeah. Album of the year in my opinion. Receiving End of it All, best Kalnoky song EVER.

I'm impressed, I thought it would just be a rehash of the last album, but other than track 1 and 3 (which sounds like a 'That'll Be The Day' rehash) it's REALLY fucking good.

Pretty nice progression, it's got the variety that Keasbey Nights has and Everything Goes Numb's improved song structures.

I'll wait and buy it. I heard them play a new song at the last show I saw them at, and that was pretty awesome. So long as that song is on the album, I'm sure I won't be disappointed 🙂

Seriously though, it needs to be longer. Only problem.

Well, EGN was about two songs too long, so it evens out here.

I'm liking Mephisto's Cafe, Forty Days and the Blonde leading the blind the most. But wow, it's pretty good.

i think the album is good and i'll probably like it more after some time but right now i feel like this album'd be a lot better if it had come out 3 years ago.

I would have, but after hearing "Would You Be Impressed?" a couple of years ago, I gave in.

I love it. I think there is something in the water in New Jersey. First Bruce Springsteen's "Magic" and now this? Fantastic!

This is actually their third drummer. The first (that recorded EGN) never planned on touring and so they had to find a new drummer for live shows.

There's actually only like 2 (MAYBE 3) members left who recorded on EGN. They lost, like EVERYONE.

      Which sucks for them.

Over 'Down Down Down To Mephisto's Cafe', 'One Foot On The Gas, One Foot In The Grave', or EVERY song after 'Watch It Crash'? The only song it's better than is 'Would You Be Impressed' which is generic Streetlight.

my review of the new album:

Four years. No, let me correct that: FOUR FUCKING YEARS!!! That's a little better. It took four years for this to come out.

With all the hardships of having so much stuff stolen, it's understandable that this album would take a while to come out. In fact, it's amazing that the album could come out with how much troubles this band has faced in the interim. But I must say that even with taking that into account, I feel a little let down by this album. It feels at times like Everything Goes Numb Pt.. 2 which in itself, that album felt like a Keasbey Nights Pt. 2. But there's something lacking…

A musical growth. This album really doesn't present anything new to the table. Everything Goes Numb was such a major growth in musicianship and songwriting from Keasbey Nights but it kept the fire and spirit. This album has the fire…but it feels like the fire is dying. The music sounded stale on my first listen and while it has grown on me more on additional listens…overall, it feels like the same but with better production and recording quality. I'm not saying that they should change genre or anything but this album sounds just like the last one but with more horn solos (the performer's growth doesn't mean a growth in songwriting…only in soloing skills). I think what I was hoping for was a big surprise and there was no such surprise…no thrill at all. It's a very solid album with catchy songs but for a band that seems to surround itself with artistic integrity…I was hoping that this album would be their London Calling or Life Won't Wait (both albums that saw the respective bands stretching both their musical chops and their songwriting chops to new levels) but instead it ends up more being like their Insomniac or, for a more recent example, New Maps of Hell…a solid album that doesn't especially bring anything new to the table and, really, I had hoped for more from the band. I was hoping to hear more Eastern European influences or maybe even a folk tune. But we you end up getting is a solid album of songs that sound like they could have easily gone on their previous album (or even the remake).

To get away from the music for a quick second, I must say the liner notes are great and I love reading the song descriptions and stories. Though I was initially let down by the artwork, I now find it interesting and am appreciating the minimalistic approach more.

But after all the griping about music and if you take the album for what it is…it's an album that's better than what other bands are putting out (In with the Out Crowd, huh?) and certainly doesn't have any bad or skip songs. It's just not an album that has any songs that make me think that they're looking to do anything new…and I had hoped they would. But there is still hope for this and maybe the Bandits will come up big on this and do something a little less mainstream and less conforming to a certain style.

In the end, I think I'm most bitter that I lost $20 since the album made it out before 2008. And that's great because I'm not particularly missing the money dropped on this album. Buy this album because it's as good as Everything Goes Numb but don't expect any curveballs or anything particularly different. The score is for Streetlight not living up to their hype and that may not be fair but they certainly played their part in building the hype and not living up to it. Streetlight: I know you guys can do better.

Honestly, as much as I like Streetlight, I don't think they can do better.

They're great musicians, but they (Kalnoky, anyway) seem to be running out of song ideas. Only in the second half of the album do they really try anything new and that's the best stuff.

The next album will either suck, or it will blow us away.

I was talking to somebody about the new album and they said "it sounds like they copy and paste some of the horn lines from EGN to the new cd", now after just hearing most the songs from the cd, I agree.

It doesn't make it a bad album, just a little dissapointing.

I always had a feeling it was gonna sound reallly similar. Tomas is a good song writer, but all his music has the same trademark stuff.
