Sam…You live in Italy, don't you? I saw they had a big earthquake over there. Lots of damage, lots dead, and lots injured. You okay, buddy?

Yes, I'm ok, thank you for thinking about me. And thanks to Jeanie for writing to me on facebook… it's strange cause we don't even know each other, but you worry for me. You're all so nice, really.
The quake struck quite far from me, I didn't even notice until I saw it in the news.
It's such an awful situation because it hit a part of Italy where houses are really old (some if not most of them date back to middle ages) and fragile. The quake wasn't even that big (5 degrees Richter), but it made so much damage.
Plus, it was 3.30 AM so all the people were sleeping and few were able to escape.
We have around 200 dead persons now but some are still missing.

Ok, forget about the medieval houses: the hospital (opened in 2000!) collapsed. It should have been able to withstand a 6-7 degree Richter quake, and now it's dust. I'm so angry. This country never changes.

That's unforgivable on the State's behalf. I'm kinda pissed too just knowing about it.
