MemberAm I the only one who (in their younger days) was in love with Linkin Park, and was uber excited for their new album, but was crushed to finally realize that they're just a bunch of sell outs??? They've become like every other main stream band out there. They even did the political theme throughout the album (which every mainstream bitch did) which was super lame. Music should be about MUSIC!!! Not money or politics. They broke my heart. Just like Green Day did. Now all I can say is FUCK MAINSTREAM MUSIC!!! IT WILL ALWAYS BREAK YOUR HEART IN THE END! *cough*
This is why I love Reel Big Fish. They never sold out…..and they're awesome.

MemberRBF sold out with their best albums. Just most people who screamed it are no longer fans or don't visit the boards anymore.
Green Day 'sold out' back in 1994. If you don't remember the shit storm and backlash it caused in the media, American Idiot was nothing compared to the Dookie backlash.
Hell, GD fans were calling them sellout during Warning (their best album) and Nimrod (their second best) because they tried new styles.
The only thing Green Day did wrong with American Idiot was let that guy make a stupid video for WMUWSE. 'St. Jimmy', 'Give Me Novocaine', 'Extraordinary Girl', 'Letterbomb', 'Homecoming', and 'Whatsername' are some of their best songs ever. And yeah, even the overplayed singles are pretty solid (outside WMUWSE, that song never clicked with me) the album is pretty damn good.
In fact, the way Green Day blasts through Homecoming and manages to make everything blend better than any band since The Who is pretty fucking impressive.
It's not as great as Warning, or possiby Nimrod (depending on my mood), but it's a pretty damn good album that deserved everything it's gotten popularity wise. Even if I think they chose the wrong singles. (Outside of AI and JOS)

MemberAlso, outside of Holiday, AI is not a political commentary. It's a social criticism.
Punk and rock bands have been making social criticism since the 60s, it's nothing new.
