      damn.

in all honesty, if the fans keep getting worse, i think i may be done seeing the fish play live. the douchebags at the grove made it close to unbareable. i love seeing them play, but i hate fighting through assholes just to have a good time.

Honestly, I've had good experiences every time. The crowd when I saw them in CO Springs was very possibly the best crowd I've had for any show, and the other two were decent. Even on the Shout It Loud tour the worst thing people did was not know the words. Well, Streetlight fans punched people, but they're a different thing entirely.

    • #4679

yeah streetlight shows can get pretty intense. for me thats part of the fun though.

I agree. Like I'm sure "skachick3" would ruin the whole show for me. I hate sweaty chicks at shows, and I hate the faggot fans who are like OMG I JUST LOVE SKA SO MUCH LETS SKANK LOLZ.

Not to mention that the same set over and over gets old after a while.

I like it intense plenty, I just don't dig getting intentionally punched repeatedly.

i'm a photographer, so i get fucked up in the press box. try getting kicked in the back of the head 50 fucking times by some shitbag crcowdsurfers while you're trying to take pictures. ghey.

and whenever rbf co-headlines with bands from other genres, a lot of shitty people seem to show up. mxpx fans were whiny little cocksuckers and ltj fans were a bunch of crowdsurfing mosh-too-much assholes. don't even get me started on when they played warped.

Same here, and agreed on the fans from different genres. As far as photo, I think security pays extra attention or something cause I'm a girl. I haven't gotten kicked nearly as many times as I could have. Whatever, I can take it!

have you been to any of the shows i listed? i'd be the guy who runs out of room on his memory card three songs into their set and just dances around the rest of the time. 😀

and the only time i didn't mind getting kicked in the head was at ska summit when johnny evil, the trombone player for FOE dome-pieced me and screamed "FUCK YEAH!" in my face. that was ok with me.

The Streetlight fans almost ruined my show. Not the MxPx fans who were actually pretty good about not being dicks in the pit, the streetlight fans were fucking moshing during the ska songs and dancing during the punk ones.

They let up a bit when RBF hit the stage, but not really.

    • #4861

i don't get how you can get so stupid listening to streetlight. i just dance and sing along. i've never had the urge to mosh or punch people listening to them. fucking stupid.

Yeah, see, the thing is, pretty much everyone calmed down after Streetlight was done, and there weren't any problems after that. Every time I see Streetlight though, there's always a contingent of (usually bald) guys who seem set on violence.

and ya know its really great to punch somebody right in the face gonna push some little girls tonight look out fag theres gonna be a fight when i'm in the pit i'm gonna puch and kick when i'm in the pit don't ya know i'm gonna fuck up shit!

The problem is, if you noticed (and I don't mean around here) a good percentage seem to have NO FUCKING clue what the band is about. The type that thinks ska is 'happy' music that makes you feel 'happy'. Ska is not a very 'happy' musical style. The only 'happy' musical style is pop music. Go listen to the radio if all you want is songs that make you feel good.

Not to say RBF have never written a happy song, but the vast majority is not very happy at all. The first time I heard 'Beer', I thought Aaron Barrett was on his way to fling himself from a bridge.

Then there's the whole 'feel better by listening to lyrics about someone who has it worse' thing, but my rambling has to end now.

      brbsuicide.

    • #5292

people probably just don't listen to the lyrics or think about what they're really saying. A lot of the music sounds happy but the lyrics are actually pretty depressing/angsty or whatever. i think this confuses some people who aren't smart enough to figure it out. just because some of the music sounds happy, they don't take the lyrics seriously or think they're funny.
well sure it is annoying when people don't take the songs seriously, but i guess if it makes them happy then thats not a bad thing. idk whatever.

JD you just made me realize that their music is quite depressing. But then another thought hit me, if most their music is sarcastic then [the song] Everything Sucks is about happy times.

Those few seconds were scary, now back to my happy RBF world.

I'll say 10+ because I have seen them at least once per year since they came out in 96. some years it was 2 times, and it also happened that I saw them 3 times in one year when I moved from MI to TX. It was awesome.

RBF and Weezer are prolly the bands I have tried to see every one of their shows in my area I lived at the time.

I also saw them in Mammoth (total coincidence that I happened to be there) and once in PA (I have a couple friends who live very close to Allentown). Of course I have no life so…… 😀

How can you possibly keep track when it's that many? I think I'm at around 30, but I have no way to be certain. You must live in SoCal if you've seen them that many times.

Don't live in SoCal, Live in Sussex England 🙂 Kept track by keeping count each tour etc, actually worked out recently where i have seen them and how many times, bloody hard when you don't always get tickets on guestlist
